A brief explanation of how this project came to be.

About 15 years ago I created a game called Xenno The Rogue for the fun of it. It was for the PC. I coded the engine from scratch in C using the Allegro game library, drew the pixel art graphics using really old software called Pictor and it featured .XM music that I used tracker software to create. I never thought in a million years anyone would ever care about my little game.

Here we are 15 years later, and to this day I still receive fan mail about it. I've seen fan art people have made and shown me. I've been told that they grew up playing my game and it is forever a part of their childhoods. I was and still am completely blown away by this.

Recently, I've realized that the game doesn't really work very well on modern computers (or at all). I decided I was going to try and update it so that it would work. That update/port turned into a remaster, which turned into a full blown remake in Unity.

Going through all the old pixel art and music from the original game has been like going through an old photo album, a time capsule of bad hairstyles and clothing choices from a time long past. And I've been loving every minute of it. There is something really cool about going over your own material from when you were younger and having a chance to do it all again. It is personal, nostalgic, exciting, and humbling all at once.
