I'm an aspiring programmer and indie game developer. Really, I just love computers, and very much enjoy learning anything I can. My interests are spread quite wide, and I tend to want to try lots of things, even ones I'm not very good at (like GFX/SFX creation). My language of choice is C/C++, and while I'm still a pretty green programmer, I've been contributing to a few projects to better my skill. I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty inexperienced in all areas, but I'm trying to immerse myself as much as I can to grow better in as many fields as I possibly can, as I would love to be able to be self-reliant, and create/fix whatever I need to to get ahead, advance, or simply create something totally new. I'll wrap it up here, since I think I've ranted enough :P

Good lord...That must have taken some time...How long have you been working on it?

Dirkson, IIRC it's from the movie "Treasure Planet" :) It's a nice little replica.

Dayum! That's a really cool ship! I agree, the observation dome is indeed very cool, and the fact that the side struts are also windows :D

Very awesome!

Thanks! Asteroid bases are cool, I had to build one.

Yep, you can do it with any component. It's not perfect though, as the light will build on itself if you have a lot of clustered rockets and turn greenish and white. It also doesn't light/unlight in real time either, and you have to hit F12 to see the new light.

Just as a note, the green spot is a marker for the large mining drill :)
(I haven't built it yet!)

Another note, I got that orange/yellow glow with a little tinkering in the components file :) Those are actually the rocket engines themselves giving off that light!

91 0 0 0 255 160 30 rocketon rocket -1 0

The "255 160 30" (last attributes before the filename (yes those are RGB color values)) bit specifies the color of the light that particular component will give off. You can do this for any component, with any color light!
The Laser looks particularly menacing when it bathes surrounding blocks in green light!
( 0 0 0 means the component doesn't give off light )

Heya. Sorry for the render error, but that's as best as I could get it.

This, is a Shipwreck turned into a Mining Outpost. A lone spacecraft was thrown off course as it erroneously navigated through an asteroid belt, and ended up crashing into a large asteroid. It bored a rather sizable hole in the asteroid, melting the steel, iron, tin, and lead of the impact zone of the asteroid (as well as most of the ship itself!). The crew was lucky enough to survive the ordeal, whereas the ship whoever, was mangled, melted and folded on itself so much that it hardly looked like a spacecraft anymore.

Thankfully, many supplies survived, and non-melted pieces of the ship were salvaged and re-purposed. The raw material that the ship held was used to construct a small base. From there, a distress beacon was delivered to the crews' mothership.

Supplies and building materials were dropped off, and the shipwrecked crew stayed behind, who had decided to turn this immense hunk of metal careening through space into a profitable endeavor. Strapping rockets onto the back end of it, and erecting a solar array for renewable energy and power, these spacemen turned asteroid miners began an operation that transformed a horrible accident into a hugely profitable success, giving their small band of star-faring souls a more than plentiful amount of raw materials for building and selling.

Oh what a surprise :D I do love coming here to see Dirkson having spontaneously putting up screens of my work ^_^

Yeah, she's no where near completeion yet (I was considering making it even longer) but she'll be great when she's done :D It is indeed intended to spin, so the outer struts have artificial gravity.

Thanks guys :D
The large transport tanks aren't made of thin plates, they're full blocks. They do however have a light layer of tungsten thin plates on them as armor, though :)
The only fuel tank made of thin plate's is the ship's tank itself.
The rest of the plates you see a medium chrome plates.

Just remember, that's only a single voxel. I believe each whole block in scrumble is supposed to represent a meter. So, that's 16 of those guys in Dirkson's hand in length, width and height. 4,096 of them would represent a full aluminum block in ScrumbleShip :)

The entry on the main site has more detailed information on the station, so check that out too :)
I've not been working on it recently, as I'm a little lacking in ideas currently. But I do plan for it to be a bustling station with many accomodations for supply/weapon production, and even crew/civilian hospitality.

This gives me the idea to create specialized bomber ships. They're hulking behemoths in roughly the shape of those trains from Half-Life 2, full of bombs. They'll have enormous, powerful thrusters to be able to zip past an area. The price being that they are horrible at turning, and would be restricted to merely blanketing an area with mines. They could go fast enough to not require an escort in a very lightly defended area, and could hold its own against such with the few turrets it will have.

Basically, special bomber ships that trade weapons and radar and all that for massive storage for countless mines, and enormous thrusters to get their job done and out of danger quickly.

[EDIT]
Since they'd be individual, yet hulking ships, and not enormous captial type ships, they could be mass-produced a little bit easier, allowing for bomber squadrons to REALLY blanket the hell out of an area

Well that's interesting :) Keep in mind that when the actual "dome" is built, the floor will be even farther than 28 meters, so that should bring me even closer to that butter zone ;)

Thanks for hosting the image, Dirson! I feel the love :D
And you suspect damn right! I LOVE green ;) Hence why the station itself is made out of granite...I chose it simply because when I JUST picked this game up, Wazubaba said granite was green XD I'll be replacing that with something else later with a save file find/replace.

You are correct on that account as well! When rotationally-simulated gravity is implemented, each section of the station will indeed spin, giving the several struts simulated gravity :)
