It seems that all the links are dead. I've been trying for the last hour to find a working mirror.

That grip looks like it's angled the wrong way. Like it's angled forward in the most awkward way possible.

I keep crashing in the first cutscene, where shepherd is walking through the normandy. No crash report, message or anything. Game just stutters for a few seconds then desktop.

It's happened on 3 seperate installations, once on my old install of windows 7, once after a fresh install and again now (after having resinstalled ME1).

Do you have any idea what might be causing it?

Not really helpful. Its full. And all the others are empty.

So, great mod, but goodluck playing it. You'll need it to get into one of the only servers with people in them.

This sucks! There's only EU servers with over 300 ping! Let's get some American servers up so I can actually play this awesome mod!

Or still life animations. Where just enough is animated to show that it is Alive. Like the fires moves in the first. Or a slight sway to the trees and a running stream in the second. Or flickering lights and some windblown snow in the last.

Little touches, nothing major.

This map messed me up; I kept getting lost. Blasted droids and their lack of architectural creativity.

SILENTrampancy - - 33 comments @ Are big breasts necessary in games today?

That's a trick question. Video games aren't a necessity, they are an abstract luxury.

Therefore, anything that that is involved under them is also unnecessary.

It comes down to whether the individual wants them or not. Personally, I wish there was a more varied representation of both sexes. Like in the Fallout games, there is only ever ONE body model for each sex. Same in the Mass Effect games. Same in WoW (for each race, of course), assassin's Creed, and many mainstream AAA titles.

The simple fix would be to have modifiers on the body meshes, simple ones that would change height, weight, composition, body type and structure. A simple algorithm could handle this, much like it does in most procedural generated games. Skyrim did this to an extent, though it could have been done to a greater degree for an even more realistic NPC population, though this is more just fine details.

The fine details are important to me, so that's my vote. Procedurally generate body types for both sexes so that the fluff NPCs have some greater variety. For Main NPCs, go for a more personal artistic touch and do something custom.

tl;dr Boobs and muscley dudes are great, but not if EVERY man and woman has the perfect body. Having a variety makes the things you like stand out more and therefore makes them more enjoyable.

SILENTrampancy - - 33 comments @ You prefer game levels to be

This method has my endorsement.

This is basically putting the effort into a handmade game, then using procedural generation to effectively stretch out that effort into more world space.

You don't get 'infinite', but you can do a lot more and not have to skimp on style, artful design or atmosphere, a few of the key things a game needs to really draw you in.

The art side of this comes in creating a rule set for what renders in each tile and however many subtiles there are. For instance, you can't have tree's popping up above the treeline or snow on a tropical beach, to name a few extreme instances.

Once you set up rules, you can set what assets fit into these rules and assign the chances of them spawning in a given tile. This can be done to get a base game world started for even static open world games, such as skyrim. Start a randomly generate world, then go through and basically impose artistic design on the results, kinda like how some artists do a random squiggle on the paper to spark an idea.

tl;dr, basically agree with you, wished to elaborate and add my own take on it.

Your game is already being made. Should go help them instead of competing. Already hard enough to get noticed.

SILENTrampancy - - 33 comments @ Sanctum 2 - Development Update

Maybe add a new spin on mobas? Throw in a bit of competitive tower defense/offense. You have to push past your enemies turrets and as you do, you can lay down your own. You can decide which waves to send in. It'd also be kind like a turn based strategy game, with the way the waves and breaks are set up in the current game.

That would be a neat way to introduce competitive multiplayer in. Certainly nobody else has done it and, who knows, you might invent something so awesome that it becomes the next best thing. I mean, LoL pretty much refined the **** out of the DotA idea and they have like 13million concurrent players.

Thats my main sticking point. Regardless of the validity of either sides opinions, These guys worked for 8 years, poured their hearts and souls into this work for NOTHING.

Personally, i love it. But thats not the point. The point is this guy is a jerk. These people deserve our heartfelt appreciation simply because they aren't asking us for a dime. The game is COMPLETELY free, since the 2007 source SDK comes with Alien Swarm/to any sod who wants it.

Unlike when most gamers get upset when they pay for something and it turns out less than they expected (No refunds, amiright?) This is childish, infantile and immature on a level that puts even entitled trust fund babies to shame.

This is almost a dream come true ^_____^

I have only one request: For maintaining progress, can you have a version that uses a save? So that if one player dies, we would have to restart from an earlier point, rather than respawn, to maintain the original feel of the game.

If the former is the case, and its a publicity stunt for TOR, then maybe, just maybe, bioware games might come back to steam, as well.

Vaguely related possibility, but we can hope, right?

This game has been a pain in the *** to install. Please make sure to tell people that the game MUST be in 32bit mode in order to work.

For those of us who have 64bit systems, we swap the game folders so we can run the game in 64bit mode. Casus Belli will come up with, "Casus Belli DLL could not be loaded. Please install Visual Studio 2010 sp1 Redistributable. Game will close in 15 seconds."

And a Readme in the file would be nice, too. Fairly standard stuff.

Odd... I've never seen any depictions of Mon Cal space structures, other than their ships, but i've read plenty and they've always been described much along the lines of their ships.

SILENTrampancy - - 33 comments @ Mon Calamari Shipyard WIP

It looks too blocky. Soften up those sharp edges and add some irregularity and asymmetry to the design. Just look at the Cruisers; Overall, they're symmetrical in their superstructure, but the detail and function itself is very asymmetrical. Their ships are very organic, i mean to say. Their shipyards should be similar.

Maybe switch to a game with a more robust modding community? I dunno if you have any special attachment to men of war, but there are probably plenty of other games to try this with. And since you're not so far in, finding a better platform now might be the best idea as oppose to getting frustrated later on and quitting altogether.
