I love the idea of tweaking traits ethics and governments, they are indeed very week.
I can see you list admiral traits to be changed, is that also true for scientists and governors?
Could you also increase the chance for gaining extra traits for them?
Also please could you make an additional change to the size of the leader pool, i really hate that out of the 3 choice often 2 or even 3 has the very same traits if there were like 10 choices the chance of getting a better mix of leaders would make choosing one that is right for the task would be increased.

Well i love the traveling effect, but the sound and particle effect is a bit toy-ish, i don't feel the kick like it was in Nexus or like and Ori beam from SG-1.
I do apologize for being negative, i just feel it could be better. Also i must point out that the emphasis should be on the impact effect not on the muzzle one, also if you have something like an ori beam where the front of the beam has a more dominant shape than the tail than you don't need to make a muzzle effect because the viewer most likely be fixating on the traveling doom ready to break down all that it will hit.

Would you consider at some point, scrapping the whole planetary ground invasion system and make a new one from scratch?
What i mean, is that to get rid of the tile based turn based crap, and rather make a simulation<little user interaction, beside reinforcement>, such like moo 2 had? Though the troops could fight longer, invaders trying to surround the colony while defenders dig in behind defensive positions. Colonies should have adequate defenses such as colony shield and walls and bunkers. Planetary bombardment should only soften defenses not wipe them out, or if it dose the planet becomes inhabitable. I hate the fact that troopships just swoop in and take planets. The process should be more structured and less prone to abuse.

Love the new destroyer, i hope we get to see this new ships armed and in action.
I love it, especially the 3D none parallel planet orbits! Though, could the graphical representation of those orbits have a bit more glow, thickness and may be some more futuristic coloring to it? Sci-Fi films and series usually nails that part very well.

I do like how it is looking, as long as you get the coordinates from it or just simply being able to give commands to your fleets to convert on that detected location, than it is fine with me.
This is already more inventive than most game of this genre.
I was wondering that will all ? mark definitely show a detected energy signature of a man made ship or will sometimes end up being a falls energy signature reading, like a comet a solar flare or even some diversion generated by the enemy to lure defense forces out.
This is just great! I take it this will make multiplayer feel so much more interesting. Are those ? marks will yield falls readings sometimes? Will these marks move in real time or just denote the location of the latest sensor reading?

One other wee suggestion, Star Trek Armada had an interesting feature that when something cool has happened outside of your current view a short camera cut scene of that event was shown at the side in order to bringing it to your attention.
I always missing this old feature from newer RTS games.

Yo man! Is there any chance that some of the beam weapons will act like the Ori beams from SG1? Meaning that their end sort-off looks like a traveling projectile which you really don't want to hit your ship. I really dislike when all the beams like instant hit the target :D.
