Another homework. First exercise with Adobe Illustrator this time. I might add some water drops to it later. Task was to create a vector graphic from a photo :)
Caused a lot of frustration at the beginning, because there was a problem with the grid for the vector and as I'm totally new to the program, I didn't know how to solve it. But, after 5 or 6 tries, I cheated my way around it and got to a quite good result, I think.
Looks pretty good. Did you really paint all of it? Or was it simply a matter of converting the photograph?
It's not really painting, because it's a vector graphic and not a pixel digital painting. The process is similar to constructing a 3D grid and then telling the program what colors you'd like to have where. But, since Adobe Illustrator is a 2D program, you'll have to understand the form and build the perspectively correkt grid on top of the photo and setting crucial color points, so to say.
Ah I see. And what can this be used for? for example?
Pretty much what any vector graphic can be used for. This pepper could be printed on a 1x1 inch piece of paper and would be high quality and it could be printed on 500x500 feet piece of paper and it would be high quality. It never loses any quality by resizing it, the edges are always going to be 100% sharp. That's why vector graphics are ideal material for print. Logos are usually vector graphics, as you can use them on websites and you won't have to change a single thing and print it on enourmous sizes, aswell.
Looks like he painted all of it to me and used a few layers or so of shading on top. It does look preety good nicely shaded on the body of the pepper it almost looks like a photo nice work.
This is incredible! It is almost lifelike!
