My name is Mike, and I am a programmer and designer for Grand Heist, an indie game being developed by Grand Games. I program in C++ and UnrealScript most of the time, but do some Java programming on the side. In case anyone is curious, what it looks like underneath the control panel. These buttons have microswitches on them, which connect to an interfacing chip (Still waiting for mine in the mail) and the interfacing chip plugs into the computer in a PS2 slot or a USB slot.
Basically, the interfacing chip just converts the buttons to keystrokes, so it acts exactly like a keyboard.
Not much to them anymore is there ? I think I see where your going with this now. Are you also going to do your own artwork ? I'd love to see the end result.
Nope, it's so simple to get these things up and running now-a-days. The complete wiring only took a max of 10 minutes.
About doing my own artwork.. I haven't decided yet. I mean I'm not too good of an artist and I may get some custom artwork done or something, but it's not definite yet.
