I develop games and I write. I'm studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and I've been published in a number of literary journals all over the world. my first novel, a dystopic sci-fi action adventure called Sun Bleached Winter was released in December 2012. Current projects are Legionwood 2 and One Night 4. You can keep track of my progress at my Facebook page (which is also the quickest and easiest way for me to respond to feedback): /pages/Dark-Gaia-Studios/365139189465

Hi. It'll install into its own V20 directory and doesn't overwrite any existing game files.

Update:

It's recently been brought to our attention that installing Legionwood 2 into the Program Files may prevent it from being able to write saves on some systems -- namely those running Windows Vista/7 with User Account Control turned on.

There is a simple fix for this: you can either install Legionwood 2 into a different directory (C/Games/Legionwood 2 works well) or simply run Legionwood 2 in Administrator Mode. You can do this by right-clicking on your game shortcut, selecting Properties, and then ticking the "Run in Administrator Mode" box under the Compatibility tab.

Small Update:

Hey everyone.

In preparation for the full game's release next week, I've made the current demo of Legionwood 2 unavailable for download. This demo was derived from a slightly older test build of the game and will soon be replaced with a demo more representative of the final product.

This new demo should be available some time next week and will allow you to play Legionwood 2 for one hour for free. You'll be able to purchase a key for the full version of the game right from inside the demo. In the meantime, there are still some older beta versions of the game floating around (a Google search for "Legionwood 2 beta" should suffice) for those who are itching to set out on their quest, though keep in mind that this particular build is very outdated and is unsupported if things should go wrong.

Happy adventuring!

You have to find his Phylactery and destroy it before fighting him -- as is explained in the diary in his study.

Thanks! I hope you don't mind waiting too long for the full version though... I currently have it on hiatus while I finish off another couple of projects, so it won't be released until mid 2014 at least.

I can't speak Spanish so I can't do it myself, but if anybody would like to translate it, I will offer my support. There is a French version floating around somewhere, and I have a Chinese translation that has been completed but not implemented yet.

Great! You should be at just the right point in the game where the DLC content becomes available :)

Thanks for the comments! If you have any Compact Discs left, they allow you to save anywhere, so using one before the final boss will make the end game a bit less irritating.

In my opinion, VXAce is a much better engine compared to the one this game was made in. It's so much easier to use and has quite a bit more versatility. Legionwood 2 is being developed in VXAce, and it's been easy to add in new features that were impossible in the first game :)

You find the Spare Battery long before you find the Electric Saw. It's a key item in the University.

You can save by finding a Save Crystal, the first of which may be found in the game's first dungeon. Otherwise, you can save in the starting town by sleeping in your house.

Sorry, a limitation of the RPG Maker engine is that it's locked in the 544x416 resolution. Playing in full screen mode SHOULD stretch the game to fill your monitor, though.

Also, there's no way to skip the cutscenes, sorry :)

It's designed to be a challenge for fans of the old SNES RPGs. They were never too forgiving. That said, the most common complaint I get about this game is that it's too easy -- the AP building system really can make the game a cake walk if you use it in a certain way.

You're probably finding the game hard because you haven't found the right build for your playing style. Head into the Character screen and hit A to access the AP screen -- try and put points into Attack, Intellect (for spellcasting characters) and Defense.

Small update:

For those who are having trouble finishing Mount Gurgan (the morality system was screwing up with the end cutscene being triggered), Beta 4.2 will soon be online, which fixes this and a bunch of other stuff. A "patch" version will also be available so you don't have to download the whole game again -- just copy and paste the new Data folder into your existing game directory.

Sorry for any frustration!

Wow, I'm curious to see that game you've described as well. I did develop a game a long time before Legionwood, but it didn't feature any of the same characters. As far as I know, the backstory in Legionwood was written just for Legionwood. It's intriguing to think about though -- I did have plans at one point for a prequel that is just as you describe.

Glad you're enjoying the game :)

Hi! Try muting your computer's sound when you get to that cutscene -- unmute once it's over. For some reason, some systems chuck a wobbly trying to play the music file in that area.

Having it on mute fixes it.

Yes, just highlight the stat you'd like to remove AP from and press left on the directional pad. You'll remove one stat increase each time you press it, and the AP will go back into your AP total so you can spend it again.

The Bind status doesn't actually have a cure in the form of a Tech or Item. You have to wait for it to expire on its own -- that's why it's a pretty dangerous status. There's a 50% chance each turn after the third one that it will cure by itself.

Antibiotics and Hannelores will cure it, but of course they're rare and powerful items :) (though you CAN buy Hannelores in the game's final town)

Thanks for the praise. I'm a long time fan of the early RE games, and I really wanted to do a tribute to them and try to capture the feel of them (especially since the later ones are... not quite as good). I'll check out your LP!

Ah yes, he's known for being a pretty difficult boss. You should be able to defeat him at level 15 or so -- grinding is rarely neccesary in the game, provided you don't run from all of the battles. He does have a particular strategy, though. First of all, take out the two enemies that appear alongside him, as they heal him and buff him if you let them live. Next, focus on hitting him with as much power as you can muster -- he's weak against Crumble and Flame Bolt so use those, boosting your spell power with a Malt Cider if you have one. Ark can use Tri Spell, which should do a fair bit to him. Use Guardsman and Sharpen to increase your Defense and Attack, and have physical attackers Double Strike him and Desperate Strike when low on health. You may also try Blinding him or Toxifying him -- these do work.

Thank you for your comments. I'm glad you enjoyed playing. Funnily enough, in One Night 4, you're going to be able to instantly retreat to the nearest save point at any time through the use of an item, and combat is removed entirely, so your criticism has been noted.

The "reward" for the combat system though is supposed to be that it removes enemies from the game -- many people are pretty bad at avoiding them and keep getting hurt, and combat allows them to permanently get rid of a troublesome enemy. It's best not to fight though, because killing enemies actually increases your chances of getting the bad ending.

If you have time, give the previous two One Night games a try -- the first one has no combat at all, and the second is based on exploration, so you may just enjoy them a little more.

As for the save point placement, it's purely old school Resident Evil -- in the first two Resident Evil games, you don't reach the first proper save room until you're at least 20 minutes in, and there's every chance you may die along the way.
