Kromaia

Game review

Wow, this is really fun. It reminds me of a lot of very different games (Descent, Wipeout, Starfox, Galaga) but it still feels totally unique and uncomplicated. The controls are tight and responsive, it's challenging but fair, and switching between hulls is great. The color change is refreshing and all of the weapons are fun to use. Well done!

Valkyrius

Game review

Great controls, intuitive mechanics, and spot-on soundtrack. It's exactly what a shoot-em-up should be. Teleportation makes it a unique experience, and it's implemented very well. If you're a fan of the genre, there is nothing to complain about. I imagine it's somewhat short, but I'm having enough trouble getting through it that it doesn't really matter, and it has several difficulty levels. Very fun and worth the money.

3089

Game review

This game is a grand experiment in random/procedural open world generation. Worlds are beautifully generated with oceans, cliffs, canyons, fields, deserts, buildings, fog, weather, and a smooth day/night cycle. As your stats improve you will encounter cooler and tougher enemies, and difficulty scales (infinitely?) from the center.

At it's core 3089 is an open-world FPS RPG in the style of Borderlands, with tons of stats that can be increased manually to support different play styles. But the procedural generation and bold, polygonal visual style provide an endless supply of unique, immersive, unpredictable new worlds to learn and explore.

Gentrieve 2

Game review

Gentrieve 2 is a fascinating experiment in procedural generation. Gameplay is 3D Metroid-style -- a room-based FPS platformer -- but genre is less important here than the ideas the game presents and the mood it effectively sets.

In the style of roguelikes and dungeon crawlers, each play-through provides a unique experience through random generation, right down to the texture of the walls. The aesthetic is refined (dark, retro-futuristic) and I'm constantly propelled by my curiosity and eagerness to get a glimpse of the next area.

Phr00t is chasing an ambitious idea and emphasizing all the right elements.
