I was afraid for a sec there that Five Nights at Freddy's would top this list. A good game, maybe, but indie of the year?

I started this game knowing not all that much about and not really knowing what to expect. I played through the first 100 levels before getting bored of the gimmick. The game is not all bad, but it is far too repetitive to keep me interested. There are, however, other issues that hindered the game experience.

I found the first maybe 15 – 20 rooms were set up well to lull you into a false sense of security then the first few jump scares happened in the next 15 rooms. After that, I felt that the jump scare thing became a little too predictable. I felt no need after that to walk through these rooms and started to sprint through as much as possible.

After room 50 I discovered more. I quite liked the Resident Evil door transition. Then, I read a note and something started slowly and relentlessly chasing me through each of the rooms. This is where the game is at its best. The constant threat of this green thing coming at you I found genuinely fun. Especially when you discover that some of the doors can be locked. An issue I have with this is the 'environmental hazard' that slows you down. I quite like that you're forced to slow down, it really adds to this feeling of there being a threat. However, the slowed walk is weirdly not smooth, there's like a jitter.

There was also not enough variation in rooms to keep this interesting, for my taste. I liked the transition from room 50 to 51. A new style of room was most welcome, but even this got very overused after the next 40 rooms. I felt no need to play past the 100th room, although from what I can see from the provided screenshots, there are probably more room variations over the next 1000 levels. Replay value is limited for this title. Although I could see some interesting reaction videos on YouTube, as I assume that the demographic for this game is very much the YouTube generation of gamers.

It really is a blast, I've been following this over at TIGSource and it really lived up to the "hype" that was generated over there. All I would ask is to add an invert-look option, being an inverted sort of guy.

Also "First person mode, no mouselook! (like in classic DooM)", Doom had mouse-look you just couldn't use it vertically due the the world not really being 3D.

They're not the same they're just far too similar to spark any sort of intrigue for new Slender 'clones'. The gameplay is far too over simplified; You with a torch wandering around aimlessly and every now and again this Slender fellow crops up. That's it. Of course there are plenty of opportunities of cheap scares but ultimately you wouldn't play these games over and over. Really, all that changes with these types of games is the setting. A wood, a house or a giant constantly changing cube within which 17,576 other cubes are moving, it's all far too similar... Except that Cube-based one that would be cool.

I think it'd do all right initially, then Apple will release AppleTV then then Ouya is going to decline in popularity. Let's face it iOS is still the #1 platform for budding indie enthusiasts.

No worries, but I have do have a few suggestions. I'll omit the graphics stuff since you are new to it. One of the things that made drug wars so fun was the fact that you had 30 days(turns) to get everything done. I think it would be awesome if you added something along these lines to your game, maybe add the possibility of limiting the amount of days you have, and say use 0 as the variable that defines the unlimited amount of days.
Next is company types. I know you're going to add more company types to the game but how 'bout letting the player define the variables of their own company? Just add another dialog that allows it... But hey it's your game and it's just a suggestion.

It might be worth checking out DrugWars, or in this case DopeWars but it's essentially the same game: Dopewars.sourceforge.net

It may be worth checking out to give you ideas since the gameplay is similar.

I started off thinking a 1000 word story was enough of an example. Now I've reached 1000 I realised I've barely started so is there a word limit to the example of what I/we can do?

download Visual Studio 2010 Express and go from there. You require knowledge of C/C++.
