I like the game. But there are a few changes I would suggest.

1st, When recruiting officers through the star base, at the beginning of the game, remove the Interview Button and it's functionality. When a player selects an officer, simply allow the information to be displayed. Having to go through multiple steps to do something that should be simply is bad design.

2nd, The "shift" key, should not be required to deactivate any functions. Example: "Tab" should be used for activation and deactivation of the warp drive.

3rd, If the current player's ship does not have a jump drive, accessing the function and menu should not be available.

4th, There is no need for a view-screen button, all you need is the Hail button. They both appear to do the same thing. And whenever someone communicated with my
vessel, a chat window simply appeared.

5th, The trade function in starbases, should be far more streamlined. There is no need for guessing games with merchants about how much they're willing to pay. Considering that their payout is determined by faction rating and standing, just list the best price. Also in your cargo, only go one or two decimal points, not five or more. Considering the "Buying and Selling" system and mechanics are going to be a integral part of the experience, it must be smooth and intuitive to use. Not for you the designer, but for the player.

I do enjoy what I see, but some things are needlessly complicated. Any more "bugs" or suggestions I may find, I will present in this thread further. I myself love the starflight series, and one day wish to make my own homage to it. However there is no reason its gameplay cannot be updated for the modern era, and include a far more simple user interface. Because simplicity does not equate less of a challenge, only that the systems before the player are far more accessible, allowing the depth of complexity that lies beneath to reveal itself in glorious ways.

Hi Lost

1) I agree and have changed it for 1.07
2) Agree again (old issue) will sort it
3) Again I agree, I've changed it so the window won't open and depending on the status whether acquired or equipped, your crew will prompt you
4) I put the views creen button there so the player could minimize the screen and open it back if he had to...like he wanted to see something on the screen while a conversation was happening
5) I agree the trade could be more streamlined. However, the guessing game is almost exactly like starflight as I remember.

The AI sees the item you wish, and suggests a start price when you click begin trade. (prices were adjusted in 1.06 to allow for better haggling). Similar to starflight then, when you sell, you type in a higher price and send the offer, he then counter offers or accepts. One thing I will add is the ability to accept the AI offer as is without having to type in his offer and send the offer for you to accept.

Great feedback, I hope you patch to 1.06 and check it out. Thanks!
