Double-clicking VoD in Desura takes me to a launcher window, where I'm supposed to choose between fullscreen and windowed, to set a resolution and finally to launch the game. Alternatively, I can click a button labeled "auto detect and launch game". This is what happens when I do something in this window:
- When I choose "auto detect", I see a new window with options like "New Game", etc. in the background, but also an "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" error message. When I confirm "ok" (which I have to), I'm back to Desura.
- When I choose the smallest resolution and click "launch game", a message appears saying "please select a desired resolution on the left. ...".
- When I choose any other resolution, with or without checking the fullscreen box and click "launch game", I see the window where I can start a new game, etc. There is no "exit" button. Perhaps not all buttons are visible? The lowest one I can see is "Credits", and that's on the bottom of the screen (fullscreen and windowed).

part #2

- Using the "settings" button in the main menu, I can actually switch between resolutions (but not between fullscreen and windowed, this doesn't work), but none of them seems to give me the full view. Some parts are missing, some parts of the screen stay black. This may have to do with my monitor format (4:3) and resolution, but I don't want to change my screen resolution whenever I play VoD and change it back afterwards.
- Moreover, I can't exit the game (from whatever window) except by using the task manager (Vista 32bit). In windowed mode, pressing the windows icons in the top left and right corners doesn't do anything.
With other words: The game is more or less unplayable for me right now. And before you ask: Yes, I have tried the "Verify files" option in Desura, and even re-downloaded the game. No change. By the way: Like someone else mentioned, it's not possible to download 0.5.1 directly (404). To be able to play a game without using Desura, is important for me, I very rarely buy games if I can't play them outside of Desura (or Steam), too. Please sort this issue out with Desura.

My PC is Vista 32bit, 4 GB RAM, ATI 3650, latest drivers. Don't think it's a graphics card problem. The game (as far as it's visible on my monitor) runs smoothly even on the highest resolution.

Hi lone, please email me at aussidan@hotmail.com

I want to give you the latest launcher which I have re-written and am sure solves the issue you are having. Additionally if you could tell me your native desktop resolution?

OK It looks like I am having the same trouble as Lone is/ was. I was able to get the version .8 game but I am having the same problems as him except I was able to DL it. One thing I noticed was that was I too got the black bars on the sides when switching resolutions in game. It was like the game was only resizing the displayed stuff in the window, but not the window itself. However this only happens in the menu. If done in the game itself, the window resizes properly and you only get the black bars in the fullscreen mode with a resolution that doesn't fit the screen (like using fullsreen mode on the 1024 by 768 (4:3 aspect ratio) with a 1366 by 768 monitor that has a 16 by 9 ratio) which you can toggle on and off in game but not on the menu.
Another thing I noticed is that when starting the game from the launcher at a resolution besides 1440 by 900, the menu BG is different (It is the old one from the alpha)
My native resolution is 1366 by 768 in case you need it

Hi Christian you are using auto detect settings?

Jan 10 2014 Anchor

Yes, and also full screen enabled. It works If I choose other resolution and windowed mode, but the window is larger that my screen so there are some bits I cannot see.
The access "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" error appeared while I was playing the game too.

Jan 10 2014 Anchor

Hi Christian what were you doing when the violation occurred?

Try using 1024 windowed for now.

I was trying to use the communication screen with one of those space bases, but the screen didn't seem to work well, can't tell you more details since I don't remember. If I get another error I'll let you know.

Hmm ok, you can't hail the base, I believed this had been fixed in 1.0.7.6 have to look again...thanks.
