In an alternate world known as Amalthea, the international community is on verge of total war. Negotiations between member nations of the Arcadian Union and the Union of Imperial Groznyvic Republics (UIGR) have broken down, and compromise is becoming elusive. Southeast of the Arcadian continent, the Scherazadi Caliphate is hellbent on acquiring the Theocratic Republic of Zofiya in order to rebuild their faltering economy. Meanwhile, the Peoples' Republic of Ao Run is rattling sabers with the Mikoto Empire's claims over the Mizuchi Islands possessing abundant resources. At this time, the United Federal States of Marchesia is conducting naval exercises with the small nation of Yggdrasil [A small nation bordering UIGR, on the northern regions of Arcadia]. But its Sinnan Fleet's AWACS aircraft detected a sizeable UIGR Northern Banner Fleet formation coming dangerously close to the small nation's coast. The UFSM sends out several air force squadrons to the northern Arcadian nation of Kysten while the Marchesian Navy decides on whether or not to launch a reconaissance mission to determine the Grozynvics' intentions.
