Pitman is a turn-based rogue-like with boardgame style. Everything you desire is inside the randomized dungeons: Dwarfs, trolls, golems, treasures, potions, magic, hammer, bow, much more weapons, ... and don't forget the monster moles and pretzels!
It's cold outside and we already need a pair of gloves while writing this text on our computers, warming us with a cup of mulled wine. Although the clock says 4 pm there is only some meager light reaching through the clouds, so we had to put on the lights since the morning. I could also mention the fog that is settling over the river we have in front of our door.
You can find that romantic...or just plain cold and depressing. But we prepared the right thing for such a time: A Christmas calendar! \o/
Today (+ tomorrow) our Rogue-like game Pitman is free for you to download from Desura. You also have the chance to win our current game TRI. Where? Head over to our calendar: Advent of Indies
Our game TRI is also part of the voting here on Desura for the Indie of the year. If you like us or TRI, you can help us! :D
Above anything else, we wish you a really great December and have some relaxing holidays!
A small but significant update makes the dwarven rogue much more playable on Linux!
For four days Pitman and TRI are part of Indiegamestand to raise money for charity and the development of TRI.
Bad news and good news regarding TRI and the Rat King.
The Reddit Games Community build their own bundle - The Gamedev Bundle, containing 6 great Indie games.

I play this game right now and I am happy what I have. Of course this is very simple gameplay but I hope you have got more ideas for this kind game.
This is a great little game, really hope you do the second version. I like the references you named, I've played the same stuff and used to make pen and paper dice games of a similar type to pitman.
But now I'm in the mainstream games industry, so can't make fun games ;)
Best of luck, I'll try and promote your stuff as much as I can.
A few of ideas;
Player classes and races to select
Non regular tile shapes
Quests to complete
Don't animate the characters!
Formalize / reinvent the magic system, make it usable by enemies
Add more types of special square, not just health / mana / food
Add traps
You've already got your own ideas of course, but maybe some of that can help you somehow.
Anyway, great game.
Hey, thanks! Your ideas are good, some of them are already in our book of ideas. :-) We'll see if we ever can do a second Pitman - I'd sure like to!
Last idea... it'd be cool for monsters to have special abilities like poison, cripple, mob, teleport and so on...
Hi dev, remember there are still problems in the Linux version.
a) Buggy mouse zoom.
b) No configuration screen.
c) Tiny window size.
d) Unknown keyboard shortcuts.
Don't we deserve a new version since August? We raised 17% of the total in your last sale.
OK, I created a new version, but we'll have to wait if/when Desura will approve it. You will then be able to choose the resolution in the options, and the mouse zoom should be fixed (I hope).
Great update sir, It's worthy of a dwarf.
Thank you for linux version !!! :) I have purchased the game, but how resizing the window ? I think that game view is too small. There is a solution for this ? (sorry for my bad english) ;)
Another problèm : mousewell don't work correctly. I can't zoom it... thank you ;)
You can edit a configuration file to resize the window: ~/.config/unity3d/Rat King Entertainment/Pitman/prefs
But I don't know how to fix the mouse wheel, It does not work for me either. Help!
That's work ! Thank you :)
Sorry for the late answer - instead of mouse wheel you can use Shift+W/Shift+S, if I remember correctly. I will look into the mousewheel issue soon!
