Malevolence: The Sword of Ahkranox is an indie game with the intent to recreate the amazing turn-based, first person RPGs from the golden age of PC gaming using modern game engine technology. Rich classics such as the Might & Magic series, Eye of the Beholder and the like have inspired this new title which, when finished will put its players into a literally infinite fantasy world filled with procedurally generated content. The Sword of Ahkranox isn't trying to compete with the larger, professionally developed RPG titles out there, but instead our aim is to fill a large gap that we believe has existed in game technology since the mid-nineties. It is definitely a must-have for all enthusiasts of the quintessential RPG. The game's procedural engine can generate an infinite number of weapons, items, spells, monsters, dungeons, cities, countryside and even dialogue, allowing the player to explore the game with no end and no reason to stop.

We've progressed a bit with town generation, check it out!

This is where we were:

We then got the correct movement system happening and put in all 27 building types to see how well they assembled, which looked like this:

This really got us excited, since we started to see a glimpse of what towns will eventually be like! But then we got to this stage:

With textures starting to be applied, things started looking really quite cool, but still REALLY basic as there were still limited models and no lighting yet.

So, just to let you know where we're up to (and to show we haven't been lazy!) we have a (still early) video showing the towns with some of the advanced lighting in place!

All of the shaders are running at default settings for now, so it looks awful, and there are still only demo textures and no props, etc, but take a look at the progression we've made through these few videos, and imagine what it's going to look like in the end! Yay!

Also, our KickStarter is at $4200! That's 70% of our goal! And we still have something like 17 days left to go! So please, please, PLEASE keep sharing the link! Post it on forums, share it on FaceBook and Twitter! Let everyone know! You're doing awesome so far, so keep it going!

We've put up a heap of new reward levels, including one where YOU CAN STAR IN THE GAME!!! So be sure to keep checking back on it! Just click the image below!

Also don't forget to check us out on all of the social networks!

The last video's seems a little slow...which, oddly enough, has made me seriously consider applying to be a beta/alpha tester for this game.

Seriously.

Anyways, very nice concept - those new models your partnership has granted are very impressive indeed. Also, I like how it seems set in early morning fog. :)

Also, YOU EXCEEDED YOUR KICKSTARTER GOAL BY $67 AS OF 4:54PM UTC +10 ON 5/24/2012!!!! Congratulations!

I KNOW!!! SO EXCITED!!! hahaha and we're WELL over it now, and still climbing! Up to $6438 as of writing this. And we still have a good fortnight left before the campaign ends!
The slowdown was an odd bug actually. We had created a special model for the "floor" segments of the town, and - it took us an evening to work this out - something in the model's data was MASSIVELY dropping our framerate. So we re-did the model, loaded it in, and now the towns run at 120fps haha
As for testing, we'll be putting out a new call for testers later in the year via here, the Facebook and Twitter, so keep your eyes peeled!

Ah nice, so you have reached your Kickstarter goal now? As with your IndieGoGo I didn't 'pay' (back. donate, whatever you wan to call it) but I'm glad to see that other people did. Can't wait for a 'official' pre-purchase option though! ;)

And that last video is very cool of course, but I won't be posting my "it looks cool" comments every newspost because that gets a little repetitive :P Oh I just did didn't I...
