2018 – The year that was meant to go down in history as the peak of humankind and civilization. When the first arrived,.. coming down all over the globe. At first there was no sign of life from the ships, just standing there silently, upright just like a high-tech tower. Showing no response to any attempt of communication.
But then people were getting sick. Their first strange behavior changed quickly into aggression and violence towards other humans, neighbors, friends, family. Even worse, this sickness seemed to spread via scratches and bites inflicted by those, infected. But despite all the chaos our scientists soon were able to find its cause: Each time a new region was afflicted by the disease, it was preceded by some kind of wave, coming from one of the alien ships.
Last attempts to communicate were made but failed, just like the ones before, and eventually military took over. In a coordinated strike multiple of the ships were attacked at the same time… but none of them took even a scratch. Instead their defenses got active, and most of the attackers killed by the ships energy-weapons.
It was only shortly after, that they hit us. Powerful shockwaves were emitted by each of the invaders, damaging and destroying most of our technology.
Not many of us were able to find safety in more remote regions or below earth's surface, where radiation was weak enough to survive. But those who made it, are here to unite, to fight and to reconquer our home.
„The Last Humans" is a real-time strategy game with a twist.
Your mission is to reclaim earth, by destroying all of the landed alien ships. But be aware: from time to time they are firing their wrecking shockwaves, destroying everything and everyone in it’s way. Only a bunker can provide safety for your people. So be sure to construct and expand it while you can walk, scavenge and build on the surface.
Having storage for precious resources and barracks for the members of your resistance you soon need research to proceed. Build a lab, accumulate knowledge and use it to increase your tech-level. Reaching a new tech-level comes with new buildings and weapon.
While you use all this to build up your army and finally destroy the invaders, you will have to defend your base from infected and other hostile scavengers.

Welcome to the next devlog for the RTS Game „The Last Humans”. A long time since the last dev log and many things are done now. Today we finished the Early Access Version of the Game with many new Features, including new Units Buildings and Functionalities like in Game Settings for Audio and Graphics or Save and Load Game. We have also now a Tutorial.
In Game Settings
We have now also Heavy Units like Tanks and APCs. Also in this version, the first Flyable Units is included. It is a small drone, which can be used to explore the map very fast.
Also The Aliens now have new Units and Buildings like Drones, Gun Towers and Teleporters to defend their Alien Tower.
We have also done an Update of the UI that the Gameplay is more integrated in it. Now you see that the game is spitted in Rounds with different Phases.
We have also update the Camera and fix a lot of bugs. Now you can also zoom in nicely.
The Nexts steps are that we create new Updates with Bug fixes and some new Content like new Buildings and Units for the Aliens and Humans. Also more Map Sizes should be available.
The Next big thing is that also the Alien Race can be played. If this big task is finished, we planned also to add a Multiplayer Mode (Alien Race vs Human Race)

The premise is very nice, with subterranean basebuilding and all, but... it's very raw as-is, I can understand why you would want to showcase your general concept, but it's a chore to try it with general fiddlyness and lack of basic RTS features like attack-move, I with you good luck with your promising project but I feel like you have really rushed it's pre-alpha demonstration and there's still an immense amount of work to be done ahead.
Thanks allot for your feedback. I totally agree there still a lot of work to do. But, that’s why is currently only a Pre Alpha Demo. And right, there are missing some standard RTS Features but the game is in a state where it’s possible to test the general workflow of the game.
That’s why I publish the pre Alpha Demo. Just to give People the chance to test the general Game Play.
Ps: I will add the „attack-move“ to the next version.

Failed on easy already.
Some ideas/bugs I found after my first play-through:
- One should able to see units behind obstacles
- There should absolutely be somekind of popup when you get attacked, where you can click on to jump directly to the scene... Otherwise you can loose half your men on the ground without noticing because you're busy in your bunker.
- Switching from bunker to ground and vice-versa should be easier, maybe a hotkey oslt... Also: while the game remembers my ground camera-position it does not for my under-ground-position.
- It is a little irritating, that the "military" build-options underground are red... I first thought that means I can't build them yet.
