Hearts of Oak: Conquest of the Seas is a non-commercial PC game being developed by PiratesAhoy!, and is to become the historical seafaring game to end them all! Fun, realistic gameplay on land and at sea, set during the Age of Sail, will provide extensive free play, exciting scripted storylines and intense multiplayer scenarios.
This is a quite demo to show how cannonballs interact when they impact other materials and how they can spawn other completely separate objects in the process.
It is simply amazing how fast your team works. So much progress in such a short time. You are really focused on this game :D
Right now you are only seeing the work of 3 members. I am coding and doing all of the engine work and I am supported by 2 modelers. Pretty soon we will see a lot more of the asset work that is getting worked on and will be imported into the game. That is when the fun begins!
ah, actual wood fragments being blasted away by the cannons. That's cool. :D
multiply the effect by 5!
It is time for the artists and QC people to take over to make them realistic, I just got it working, lol.
Ah, I know what that's like.
It's your job to grind out the features while the artists stand around debating what color the water should be.
Keep up the good work, murphy. ;-)
Could the wood fragments be made to inflict damage and gruesome injuries, as the real splintters did?
Everything in the game so far looks awesome. Keep up the outstanding work, mates!
Yes. The objects getting spawned have mass, so coupled with their velocity it can cause damage. In fact while testing last night I had the boat too close and ended up getting killed by a particularly large piece of wood!
Wow, cool!
