I've been wanting to make a game with a dark atmosphere for a while now, and the announcement of IGMC 2015 felt like an opportunity for me to finally do it.
Last year, I released Save Point and had a lot of fun making it, but the game was really just about showing a battle system I wanted to try for a while. Now I want to tell a story, and do something different from a RPG.
So I decided to make GUILT, a stealth/horror game made with Game Maker Studio.
GUILT tells the story of a woman lost in a dark forest. The atmosphere is heavy and there doesn't seem to be anything alive in it, but she has to go through it.
While exploring, strange things happen around her as she comes across things that shouldn't be in the middle of a forest.
Discover what's going on in this dark place, why she's here and try to lead her to a safer place.
The main focus of GUILT is exploration. You'll have to walk your way through the forest, sometimes you'll need to jump, climb, ...
But something is in this place. Something follows the woman. She'll have to hide. She'll have to sneak through them. If they see her, then her only hope will be to run... But will that be enough?
GUILT is available right now, you can download it here:
Hi, I'm Ylzor and you most likely never heard of my game! It was announced very recently and I didn't really take the time to talk about it since I had to finish it in a month for the Indie Game Maker Contest 2015.
GUILT is a short game that focuses on its atmosphere and story, while not forgetting that a game is supposed to be played. You can probably guess what's the gameplay about with the screenshot you just saw; stealth. There are monster... thingies all around the place, and you'll have to sneak past them or else they'll get you. They have this pretty cool ability to stretch from wall to wall, so you may want to check where you go.
That's not the only thing you're able to do in GUILT. When one of those monster... thingies see you, it's not game over just yet. If they can't see you, they'll most likely hear you, but running is a viable option... And the only one, sometimes.
GUILT was a lot of fun to do, even though after a whole month I really need some sleep. I hope some of you will take the time to play it, and for those of you who do, I hope you enjoy it!
Version 1.0.1 fixes a few bugs: - When turning, pressing jump will now properly make you jump at the end of the turn animation. - The "chase" music should...

Please keep making games! This was great and I'd love to see more!
Thanks for the video!
Really loved the game, liked the difficulty of the monsters especially, it was not too hard, just the right amount of difficulty. I loved the fact that monster avoiding was mostly puzzle solving stuff, that was a good one. The story while short was really good and dark as well. Hope to see more games from you in the future :) Let's play for those interested: Youtu.be
