Exilania is a multiplayer 2d sandbox/adventure/rpg/roguelike. The focus of Exilania is taming a hostile world. You begin with nothing but an axe-head, and can advance up to making massive buildings, generating electricity, and eventaully mastering the secrets of your new world. The world is made from blocks, all of which are destructible.
Changes in this new version:
Exilania will have 3 types of crafting. There is material crafting where you will make things like doors, generators, pumps, weapons turrets, and crafting materials like steel and iron.
I am now seriously looking at implementing the Item combiner system, which will allow you to make things like guns and axes by combining pieces together. You will save the blueprints so you can easily create those items again in the future.
After Item crafting comes NPC generation. Currently, only local dummies are created. I will make the system able to pull pieces from a collection of body-parts to create randomized monsters. They will then be skinned with an appropriate color, given stats relative to the sum of their parts, and they will then be given AIs to attack you or be friendly.
The third type of crafting is vehicle creation. vehicles will be built from scratch. You simply put blocks down to make an engineering bay, then the size of the vehicle you can make is determined by the size of your building(or an upper bounds on vehicle size). Vehicles include anything that can move from spaceships with hanger bays and engineering bays of their own to make fighters, all the way to submarines, airplanes, tanks, and mining vehicles. I want to make ship combat very fun and allow for multiple people to be working inside of the ship at the same time. One person is flying or driving the ship while another is firing the forward facing weapons turrets. Maybe even set autopilot to fly you forward while you run to the back of the ship to shoot at the guys chasing you! It's a very ambitious goal, and will be very time-consuming, but I will not consider this game complete until I can build my own flying and working spaceship.
Back to coding! Hopefully more updates coming soon.

nice Virus in your demo ;[
ESET is giving a false positive. I used an obfuscator called 'confuser' to obfuscate the code.
1 of 48 was a positive... ESET had the positive "a variant of MSIL/Packed.Confuser.G"
bug report for confuser:
Hope that solves your problem!

what do you mean, virus? Where did you download it from?
Looks like terraria copy.
Well, I appreciate you feel like it's up to snuff enough to be compared to Terraria, which is a great game. Thanks! I'm hoping to get more of the sci-fi stuff more prominently featured pretty soon here.
I really want to see those procedurally generated mobs :p Good luck with it!!
Is this game gonna be a F2P game?
The game will not be free to play, but I will release a limited demo that has vehicle crafting, item combining, and multiplayer disabled.
Oh, and the three layers (foreground, furniture, background) that all can be interacted with was a nice touch.
Thanks for your comments, hy53Xniner!
One of the most important design goals for this game is low resource usage. Glad to see that being fulfilled.
I do need to put more documentation together and add an in-game help system to make it more obvious how to work with the game. Crafting will eventually have an up arrow and a down arrow to facilitate switching between crafting options without the use of the scroll wheel.
I've always wanted a quick and easy way to toggle games between full-screen and windowed... I am very happy with how Exilania toggles between the two.
The Item combining system has, unfortunately, not been implemented yet. It is coming up around the corner. I am currently working on getting multiplayer NPCs/mobs functioning, after which being able to fight them becomes important, and so does item combining.
Any distance mining is a dev implementation for easier testing, future versions of the game will limit the distance to which you can mine resources and place blocks/items. There will be items, though which allow for longer-distance mining. (laser drill anyone?) Eventually, vehicles which you build from scratch will be able to do the mining for you (with you as the pilot, of course)... materials will then be deposited into either the vehicle's storage chest (which you place inside the vehicle) or go straight into your inventory.
I have been thinking about additional ladder functionality for the future. If all goes well, I will have time to implement ladders as well(I already have ladder sprites made), I am currently thinking I would need to make new images for a back-facing version of all character pieces I make, as I'm not sure someone going sideways up a ladder looks very natural.
Thanks for the positive input, I was quite happy to see it.
