For all of you fine folks at moddb we have some awesome new screenshots for you to enjoy! The first two are concept art for the game, and the second two are concept screens of the upcoming trailer :)
Regarding our development plan we are planning on starting a Kickstarter project for the game when we have finished our trailer which we are expecting to have released in 1-2 weeks. From then on we expect to take about 8 months for development time. In addition to the story mode we are planning on doing some kickstarter exclusive zombie invasion maps where you try to see how long you can hold off against zombie waves! This is for my LMS fans ;D In addition if we reach certain funding thresholds we'll be adding new features such as a Mac build, coop, and potentially even release the source code so people can make their own commercial games. This game obliterated the opposition when it was shown in 2002, simply unbelievable graphics for the time. Despite not remembered fondly nowadays I still love it. It's a bit tech demo-y sure, but that doesn't mean there isn't a game here. There sure is and it's a pretty good one.
I ask those who keep saying "this isn't Doom", how else were they going to evolve the game going forward? Half-Life's design easily allowed building on top of it, so HL2 continued the formula, what did Doom have beside cleaning levels from monsters and key hunting? Did you expect to roam outlandish levels, shooting monsters and looking for colored keys in the year 2000+? Of course they were going to make it a story driven FPS with horror elements, this was about demons and hell right?
Then Doom 2016 comes out, it's the complete opposite of Doom 3 and those same people dislike that game too! No matter what path the developers take, there's a crowd that cannot be pleased when it comes to modern Doom titles, lucky for those guys there are still very high quality mods coming out to for the original Doom / Doom 2 even today.
As for me, I've yet to see a bad Doom game.
I have to ask: has anyone ever attempted to port vanilla textures and sounds over to BFG Edition? I like the source ports for it, but it hurts my senses still seeing the compressed textures and audio where it shouldn't be when even mods don't quite cover everything.
i think H3llBaron is working on a retexture pack for BFG...
Wouldn't it be enough to load the vanilla data with the BFG exe?
Haven't tried it, but I'm not keen on it working since the modified engine handles assets differently from vanilla idTech4.
Are you talking about .pk4 and .resources files?
The .pk4 file is just a zip file, so you can unzip it and extract the raw contents.
You can load the raw contents with the BFG exe.
Gave it a try, but it's not that stable and the results aren't what I was expecting. Doesn't really replace all of BFG's textures. If it does, it just comes up looking flat. Sounds also go missing with the new audio rendering. I'm not an expert in much of it, so I don' think I'll be able to clean it up for use.
Sorry to have taken up so much of your time for nothing. Indeed, the BFG exe does not seem to be able to read old files.
BTW, I found a way to load old textures in the BFG system.
You can use RBDOOM3BFG(https://www.moddb.com/mods/rbdoom-3-bfg) for it. This will automatically convert and load old textures.

I think I could probably convert most of the sound files. Though for some reason, the title screen sound beeps strangely...
At least I confirmed that the weapons and imps sounded fine.
That is what I used, so I don't think that's the solution.
Really? Darn, things seem to be more complicated than I thought.
If you could give me a list of textures and sounds I could convert them myself.
