Darkness Inside The Light is a game about Horror, survival, and escape. You play as a man, known as experiment #1642, Who wakes up in a containment cell unaware of Who he is, where he is, and why he's there. As you play the game, you will encounter Horrific Experiments and creations. Along with these experiments, you'll find documents that help explain what these things are, who you are, and why you're there. Now, to be clear, this isn't a cheesy Jump scare game. There ARE jumpscares though. However, How scary they really are depends on the player. As I continue making this game, I will release Demo builds whenever I make improvements I Consider to be major. Note that the Storyline is NOT IMPLEMENTED, and will be in the next big update. BIG NOTE: IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE GAME AND DO NOT READ THE "README": YOU MUST PRESS CTRL TO OPEN THE DOORS, NOT ENTER. If more people want this done, I will. This started as just a hobby but now I'm motivated and if you want it, you got it.

Just some news about the progress with the game starting in Unity.

Hello all! I decided to say "Screw it" and start game production in Unity now rather than wait for later when I get a new PC (which may not even happen - Sadly).
One notable update here is that the game has expanded to a 3-person team:
Myself: Working on the main pieces of level structures/designs, scripts, features, storyline, and model placement as well as a bit of texture design and model designing.
Paroxtus: Working on the music/sound effects and also helping with making objects and models, while also making contributions and suggestions to the game in pretty much every category.
My brother: Working on Scripts in Unity, as well as model designs and object designs, and also giving suggestions and contributions to the game in most categories (If not all).

While I'm still making a good amount of the game myself, these two help me create the game MUCH faster and MUCH better than I could have done on my own, and without these two, my game would be held off for months instead of being started right now.
Now, onto the more interesting part.
-------
WHAT I'VE DONE:
So far, I've created the first room in the game.
I've added a bobbing movement when you walk, so it looks a little more like walking, and I've added a flashlight (Still working on the script to be able to turn it off and on though).
Designing the level is much harder than it was in FPSC, partially because.. There are no premade structures I could use, and I plan on making it all uniquely my own anyways.
I've also started messing with lighting.
--------
WHAT I PLAN ON DOING:
I'm planning on putting in click-and-drag doors, so you can open the door manually rather than just pressing a button.
I might switch it back to just pressing a button but regardless I want to mess with that concept.
I'm adding footstep sounds for the character so you actually hear yourself walking.
I'm making more rooms and more areas (Of course), possibly scrapping this room and learning how to make a simple basic level structure in blender, which seems quicker and easier.
ALSO!
I plan on updating the game info when the first Unity Demo of the game comes out.
WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I WILL BE REMOVING THE OLD DEMOS, AND CHANGING SEVERAL BITS OF INFO ON BOTH INDIEDB AND THE GAME WEBSITE.
This makes it so that
1. The game is updated with correct information, as it should be every time I update
and 2. The downloads area isn't cluttered.
By removing the downloads that are old once the new demo is up, It'll also save people from mistakenly downloading an FPSC version of the game, which would be incredibly outdated and look terribly different compared to newer versions.
It's simply to start the game anew.
Anyways, more updates to come in the near future.

Stay classy, folks.
