GPL release September 13th 2011 (Rage Release!)
no way! that far off?!?
I wouldn't even mind paying some euros for this game, it looks so excellent!
it is free?
according to thier post its a mod which will be free if idtech4 is released under gpl
Not to sound like a douche here, but I think that we can forget about an idtech GPL release with all the Bethesda shenanigans. And now that all future idtech games will be Bethesda-exclusive, chances seem very slim that it will happen...
oki doki (it is 5 years for release in gpl? no?)
ID Software's tradition until now was to release every of to their engines after 5 years under GPL.
But with the ID Tech 4 Engine it is unclear if that happens, because ID Software was recently bought by Bethesda Softworks.
John Cramack said in a interview that he still want to release ID Tech 4 under GPL, but that he has to discuss that with Bethesda first.
Let's hope he's succsessful...
If not, we still have produced a great Mod ;-)
but for now the "mod" is based on witch version of the tech 4 engine(doom3,quake wars, wolfenstein)???
because if Carmack release the code it will be the doom 3 version and theire is a LOT of difference between each!!
It's based on the original Doom 3 with the latest patch 220.127.116.114.
Well, lets hope the released version of the code will match this.
But even if not, then we have to do whats needed to get it working.
