We now have a concrete goal to release a free demo by 8 18 2014. We are steadily working on this goal and it has given us an opportunity to make some final calls on darlings we need to kill.
Our menu system and interface has been given a face-lift and we have decided to go with a more traditional gui approach as opposed to the 3d menu we had experimented with before. We found this menu approach to be a bit cleaner, more intuitive, and more conservative.
Creating an orbat (order of battle) system has been crucial for implementing the military structure that will play a large part in our game. Players can now slot into specific roles like "gpmg gunner" or "medic" given they are the correct prerequisite class (eg science officer for medic and military officer for gpmg gunner).
We are also including a customized profile interface with entries such as country of origin, weight, age, and some others to help reinforce immersion. This profile system will eventually track other basic statistics of game play and offer a little bit of persistence and our goal is eventually to create a coupling with an online profile as well.
