The Art Challenge is indeed, as the name promises, genuinely challenging. But the difficulty here, while perhaps a bit humbling at times, is not insurmountable, and can even be pleasurable.
Game play appears simple at first: a painting is presented to view with the names of four artists listed below it. Just tap the name of the creator of the current canvas. Easy.
Or maybe not so easy, after all. One quickly realizes that there is still much to learn about Art History here, whatever one’s background in the subject may be.
Even failing at the app’s simple, multiple choice method of challenge is not unpleasant, though. It may even serve to gently encourage the desire for a deeper understanding of great art simply by displaying a fascinating library of colors for the users’ enjoyment.
Ten correct pairings of Artist to Painting in a row are required to complete a round through any series of displayed paintings. An incorrect answer resets the counter to zero, so careful study of each piece is a wise approach
