I have animated some of the mechanics that I want to implement in the game! There are a few other ideas I need to add, but I animated the most important ones.

Hello everyone! So, with this article, I am hoping that you guys will be more up to date with what I have been doing, since the past few have been a repost from what I did in the two last months of 2023. Thank you once again for being here! I will do my best to make these articles more engaging and interesting for you guys!

For the past few weeks, I have been painting all the frames for the player, and adjusting a few things in the animation that I saw fit.

I have decided to animated beforehand, a few frames for the mechanics I want to add to the character. And I will now display them below, through a simple made up numbered order.

Nº 1 - Idle, Run, Jump.

These are the most basic mechanics that the player has. If I find it troublesome to program the rest of the mechanics, these will temporarily be the only animations that the character will have.

Nº 2 - Wall Climbing, Wall Sliding and Wall Idle.

I have found a few pretty good videos on YouTube that allowed me to program Wall Climbing and Wall Sliding right away. I still have to figure out the Wall Idle. In reality, I might leave this mechanic out for now, at least the Wall Climbing mechanic, as it has been creating a few bugs that I am struggling a little bit to solve. The character will sometimes, randomly be stuck on the wall and neither go up or down, and the only way to get away is by moving away from the wall, which would cause the player to fall.

So far, I have successfully managed to program the Wall Jump mechanic! The Wall Sliding is also working, so for now these will be the mechanics that I will leave as basic vertical movement.

Nº3 - Ledge Climb/Ledge Grab

The ledge animations were made with great success. Unfortunately, I have not been able to program it, so this is one of the mechanics that will definitely not be in the game for a while, until I figure out a way to accomplish it. In the meantime, I might eventually modify a few things in the animation, because there are 2 or 3 frames that I do not like very much.

This might have been mentioned in previous articles. I have indeed found a youtube course that contains every single mechanic that I would like to implement in my character, but as I was working on it, I realized that it would most likely take me a ridiculous amount of time to complete it. My main goal is to have a short demo of this game as fast as possible, so that I can share it with the public. I intend to take important feedback from players in order to learn how to do this work better, and I am hopeful that I will be given really good ideas as well, that if possible, I will be implementing in my game if my skills allow me to do so.

For now, this is all that I have in terms of character mechanics and animations. I will be coming back shortly with more updates on the project. Until then, I hope you guys take care of yourselves.

Thank you once again for checking this out. I am still not entirely sure if this is going to work, but I am doing my best to make it possible.

See you guys around! Take care!

Thank you again for being here! Much love.

ThxforWatching
