We've got some bad news: We have encountered a game breaking bug in all of the new towns and cities which requires us to scrap the source. We won't dance around it, we won't pretend it's not there and continue as if the mod works perfectly. It's there and we refuse to release a broken mess to you. So I imagine you're now asking yourselves "Does this mean you're abandoning the mod?", and the answer to that is: No! We intend to finish what we started.
Instead we're going to start from the bottom, and rebuild the mod completely, a lot will be cut, this is unavoidable, we will be bringing all of our scenes and resources with us, but existing features and factions will need to be rebuilt.
But this brings us to a interesting opportunity: Now that we're starting from the begining we have a blank canvas to work with, so what if we were to not only start again, but take what we have now and create an original setting. A completely new world to explore and conquer, take all of the factions we have now and put them in a new setting, with new factions, some of which we wanted to do originally but didn't fit in the existing Warband canon, some of which you guys might want to suggest.
Alternatively we can rebuild everything as it were before the restart. A little more refined and stable than it was, but still in the over all the same. At the end of the day which ever route we decide to take, know this: Things *will* get cut out, towns, characters, features even, we will still be set back by a year or more, continuing with the original idea or starting a new universe all together will still have the same cons at the end of the day, this is a hard truth, but a truth none-the-less.
Will we still be keeping all of the features we spoke about in the last developer blog? Absolutely yes will we be keeping them. Will we still keep all of the factions? Without a doubt yes, they may recieve a change of name, but we're keeping them either way. These things will remain no matter the path we choose.
For the time being we will be taking a short break to think about what we're going to do and reach a consesus. So please stand by
Thank you for reading.
Good Luck,
I'm sure you guys will get it done.
Rip this mod. jkjkjk I hope all goes well rebuilding it. Can't wait till release.
Could we at least ask for a bigger explanation of this bug
The bug is simple: The game crashes upon entering a town scene. It only seems to plague the new towns that we've added unfortunately, and we don't have the faintest clue what's causing it, it's most likely an issue in the source code, and to be honest rebuilding would be a lot faster than trying to find it.
Wow didn't expect a reply thanks you could say not knowing what the bug was was "bugging" me XD
Perhaps you should try to replace all added towns with a vanilla town scene, and then rebuild only those added ones instead of the whole mod
It isn't a problem with the scene OBJs, they work perfectly, it's a problem with the code. So changing the scene OBJs around doesn't do anything.
Any new ideas to make it better then before?
games in 1877, so... German unification memes's?
Wish you guys the best. This mod looks great and I'm sure with time it will get better. Good luck!
Best. Developers. Ever. Taking months of work and throwing it out cause some bug won't let us enjoy the mod. That is true dedication. Thank you for giving your time to us picky, and famished M&B mod users.
they have an armee of loyal followers and we stand with them. despite the set backs they are the best in modding for mount and blade in my opinion
Damn, that really sucks ***! Can you describe what the bug was? Just curious
Oh well, rebuilding can be fun and inventive, plus I imagine you have almost all resources already made, so its just coding
Heartbreaking, but so glad you're still willing to finish the mod. But conquering a new world does sound really fun
Im really sorry to hear that
I've always thought Calradia is kind of a boring setting. Creating your own setting would make the mod feel more fresh and certainly more original. I'd say do it!
Id be interested in your original scenario.
Mad respect to you guys for 1) not leaving this bug in to screw us players over in a messed-up release as a lazier & more callous dev probably would've done, and 2) not letting it get you down. Good luck with the mod's reconstruction.
You guys can do what you want with the mod, just throwing this idea out there though: Why not, instead of calradia or some other fantasy setting, just do Victorian era Europe/Africa? Kind of like what L'agle did with the Napoleonic era. I'm sure whatever you do, the fans will enjoy either way
Oh, gods! This is such a shame! I guess you can just wait for Bannerlord because by the time this mod is finished everyone will be playing Bannerlord thus forgetting about Warband and its mods completely.
Very helpful.
I say still work hard. Think about the people who don't have money to buy bannerlord, and stuck on Warband. Give us the good stuff
Aw damn, this must be such a disappointment for you guys; I'm glad the team is taking this in such stride. I know how it must feel to loose something that you've been working very, very hard and passionately for. Best of luck! Know that whatever you guys choose, we'll be behind you a thousand percent.
heres my take on this, i would rebuild from calradia and warband mainly from a story line stand point it makes better sense. but honestly yall have had my support from day one since i saw imperial age. that being said dont let it beat you and continue your hard work.
I wish you guys the best of luck, we are glad to have devs who stick to their mod till the end thank you
good luck and god's speed my friends!
May this serve as a lesson for all of us: ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR STUFF
Good luck hope it works great
