A new weekly update with a new fight in a new set of enemies!

Posted by on

As always, this update is live now and can be played for free in browser at Isochronalgames.itch.io Updates like this will be coming out every week, so please follow if you're interested in seeing future updates!

We've got the first fight of the new (and final, for this phase) set of fights! The Battle Brothers are one of three warrior fights.

-The Battle Brothers in their first phase share some similarities to both the Riptears and the Trons - The frontmost Brother will use its shield to defend the pair and bash the player, stunning and exposing them to more damage.

-Meanwhile, the back Brother will deal damage, heal the front Brother, and occasionally move up to take their place.

-However, once one is defeated the other will change its tactics, moving to undefended swings that can either be interrupted or expose the remaining Brother to more damage.

As we come to the end of the content additions, I'm starting to look more at what I can do to make it more visually appealing. My current plan is to go for a sort of papercraft style, so that it looks like something a group of kids could create and play in their notebooks. This is primarily because it started its life as a possible board game, but I'm also hoping it's something I can pull off with my weaker art skills.

You can already see some parts of this, like the paper outlines I've begun placing around enemies. I'm experimenting with other things, like shaders that make assets look like they are drawn on paper, and different backgrounds.

I'll be posting these changes on Twitter (@IsochronalGames) as I experiment with them, so follow along there to see those and give any feedback!

In development - Next week we have the second fight of the warriors, which I have a new unique mechanic planned for. It will also require some changing of the UI, so hopefully it will come together quickly!
