HAve you guys seen Blockade Runner? It's basically aiming for the same sort of game. They do have multiplayer planned and seem to be a bit further in dev, however I do like the designs in your game - the diagonal blocks work really well.

Alpha funding implies there's an end product in the near future. Toady plans to continue Dwarf Fortress development for the rest of his life.

They had a backup, however since moving they've had internet troubles and so weren't auto-backuping. The bad luck is frankly astounding.
