That's a heck of a lot of work and will drift towards an area where Bushido isn't meant for. I believe the intentions are for this to be a competitive and fun duel/team based fighting game - A single player mode would require plenty more assets, a lot of thought into the plots, writing and 'screenplay', as well as AI, unique features, maps, voice acting, etc. Sure it would be great to have, but a lot of the fanbase will be coming from the likes of Mount and Blade and Chivalry, so not a whole lot of people will appreciate the story - at least to the point where it is profitable.
Besides, fighting games have made stories before and have been for decades....
I speak on behalf of many.......we are sooo excited for the next update! :D

Is there possibly going to be any deployables within Bushido such as pavises or barricades (great for some trolling archers! ;) )
Keep up the fantastic work....been eagerly waiting for some gameplay since Bushido was going to be a mod! I just hope there is some tech demo or something equal made for when the Kickstarter comes up...

Additionally, maybe having such parries require a higher percentage of stamina to perform would be a more justifiable feature. Unprepared, last-minute, parries may consume a lot of stamina and increase the chances of you being stamina stunned!
What about a feature where the longer your block/parry animation is played, the lesser knockback/stun you face from enemy attacks. For example, if someone swings and you just parry at the very last moment, your body has not had enough time to space legs and maintain balance which, in turn, knocks you off balance with the potential of stunning.
I noticed you said you had a pre-alpha "slowly coming together" so I wondered if we can have an ETA on the video? :D
Failing that, hopefully an ETA on the next screenshot/dev blog?
