Nope. We talked about it, but ultimately decided that it wouldn't fit the Arcade style shooting mechanics. We even went down the other way and added optional autofire for semi-automatic weapons such as the pistol or the shotgun. Mainly to go easy on controllers.

We have a mighty editor for the game. We did all the story, cutscenes, levels, scripts and other levels with it :) Unfortunately it's in German. And translating all script commands is going to be a hell of a ride. Still... I agree it would be great to have the editor public. Plus some means to distribute and get user-generated content. A lot of work for a single coder :)

It's on the list for the next update. Can't say when it's done, though.

It's fixed now, there should be an update going live in a few hours! Thanks again for the report.

Thanks! The controls with a 360 controller are classic twinstick shooter controls as far as I know. Walking with the left stick, aiming with the right stick, shooting with right trigger, flares with left trigger. You can change the walk direction in the control options if you prefer to play with "forward" or "sidestep" movement instead of walking in screen directions ("up", "down"). And if the stick does nothing, check the Windows calibration settings.

Concerning voiceover: Yes, I'd love to give it a complete voice over. Would probably improve the story a lot! But currently I can't afford it.

I lack the domain knowledge to judge this :-) I just made that up because I wanted all weapons to have significant improvements beyond plain number scaling. I'll put it on the list.

Interesting. It might be a bug, and thus it might come up again in the future. I'll go hunting. Thanks for the report!

No online multiplayer. Just local vs. or coop at one computer.

Everything's ok, I think. Let's keep this discussion civil. When I presented the game at other places I was told I should be more bold. Being too shy comes off as whiny. So I tried another direction. This seems to be too far into the other direction.

We're getting closer, I'd say :-)

I understand your concerns. We can't make it cheaper, though - Splatter took two years for two people to develop, it has a script-heavy campaign with lots of dialogue, special effects and content. I think it's worth the price, but I won't blame you for thinking different :-)

Thanks, maybe later. We aim for free content updates to keep the game fresh. Might use a hand there. Currently I can't say, though.

Hm. Good point. My defense: I've taken that wording directly from a user feedback :-) What would you suggest instead?

Reload animations... hm, interesting idea. There's no magazine limitation or reloading so we'd need to add that, too. That's a major redesign to the weapon pacing.

Schrompf - - 29 comments @ Splatter released!

We intend to add an OpenWorld game mode via a free update. But that's not sure, yet, because currently I don't know if I'll survive this release :-)

Thanks! In game everything is 2D sprites, but with depth and normals. Some of these are generated from 3D models, such as humans or monsters, others are hand-drawn.

No. Splatter is probably going to cost 10€, or 12$.

Steam? Hell yeah! But we don't have much of an influence on this. We'll do Greenlight soon, though.

Regional pricing: not as long as we selling it ourselves. The webshop should translate the price exactly into any currency. On Steam and such we don't have a choice but to accept what the platform owner decides.

Hello Guests!
@Linux: maybe. Currently there's no Linux version, but depending on my workload and financial situation after release I intend to port Splatter to Mac and Linux.

@Engine: Splatter uses a custom-built engine. It's a framework I built over the last ten years, it already proved its worth several times.

Good question! The main story line is mostly linear, with a few decisions and side missions on its way. Then there are arcade game modes where you battle for worldwide highscores. Then there's the freeplay mode (or to be exact: there will be) in which you can rebuild and fortify a village for survivors and explore generated surroundings for resources. And there are multiple multiplayer modes, having you battle with or against your friends.

Gratulations are due for this achievement. I shall open a Czech Budwiser in your honour (and maybe send the pee to an american friend afterwards... SCNR)

To be honest: I duly lack experience in any american beer, even though I'd like to educate myself on the matter some day. But as I'm from Germany, the pressure to look for better beer isn't really high to begin with.

Thanks to everyone! Yes, this is the actual ingame music. I wanted to have ambient sounds for the peaceful scenes and electronic upbeat/industrial for the fighting scenes, and my musician really nailed it! I love this guy :-)
