A gamer from a previous generation. I miss the 80s but couldn't live without the gadgets of today. I'm a developer by trade (business applications) and am playing around with XNA as a hobby (when I'm not playing games). My gaming interests are wide starting from platformers and point and click adventures through to multiplayer FPSs and MMOs and many of the games inbetween. Why do all the new genres have acronyms and the older genres tend to have long names? Young whippersnappers nowadays with their textspeak! ;)

Deity

Game review

The only problem with this game is that there isn't enough of it.
An interesting little action stealth title where you leap into lights and people, chaining leaps together to move through the level without being spotted or killed.

Well worth the short time it'll take you to experience it.

Dungeons of Dredmor

Game review

Very fun and funny roguelike.
Pokes fun at other roguelikes and the whole fantasy genre in general while also creating a plausible and solid game out of it.

I also hear rumours of an expansion soon.

Dino D-Day

Game review

It's an interesting game with a very cool concept, but very heavily dependent on being able to find a good group to play with.
And there may be a bit too much sniping for your taste.

Survivors of Ragnarök

Game review

This has great potential to be a fun and quirky retro style game with plenty of silliness and laughs.
In the alpha stage there are still plenty of bugs plaguing things and not terribly much to do at the moment, but plenty of potential shining in the rocks. The devs just need to mine it out, smelt it into a fun game and polish it up.

The final product could score far more than a 7 if they do things right.

Project Zomboid

Early access game review

This has lots of promise to be a real gem once all the functionality is completed and the content and polish is applied.

At the moment it's an enjoyable but rough game (to be expected as an alpha) that'll leave you wishing they were closer to finishing it.

This would be a 9 review except: lack of content drops the score a point and lack of polish drops the score another point.
I find it very difficult to rate a game 10 unless it has something really special but once this is finished the retail version could easily be a 10. Definitely worth keeping an eye on this.

Difficult and pretty this shmup is a nice take on the genre and will keep you amused for ages. Get an Xbox controller to get the most out of the game.

A pretty and artistic puzzle-platformer. Even the credits are fun.
