Insurgency

Game review

The weapon handling and modular equipment system works very well. Also the realistic damage system really pays off. It makes you walk through the maps really careful. The game is still very accessible.

Engine review

My favorite commercial engine. It performs nicely on my subnotebook with an integrated Intel HD 4000. While usually 3D engine ages so very fast the constant updates make those awesome Valve games still look good on todays standard. Well crafted and a sane business decision to keep games constantly updated rather than creating boring sequels which is the video game industry standard. The Steam integration is so well done, it makes me forget that I don't really own the game, it is full of DRM and my subscription can be canceled any time.

Natural Selection 2

Game review

Performance is quite horrible, but artwork and gameplay is superb. Can't believe that this is an Indie title and not made by Valve. I give this a very high rating because I believe the developers will patch this game until it is completely optimized. Plus, I loved the original Half-Life mod. A genre defining milestone in computer game history.

Urban Terror

Game review

Compared to Counter-Strike where I am mostly watching other players walking around, this is a nice fast-paced alternative that runs natively on my Linux laptop. It features high-quality models and some maps are exceptionally well done.

Desert Stormfront

Graphics and music is nice, but unit movement is too slow. I see no difference in the two sides (same units/buildings, just different country flag). Mission design is a little boring and there is only few AI.
