Thanks for reacting in a customer-friendly manner! I must admit that the green box had escaped my attention, just had noticed the promo ad in the articles section. My mistake.

Update: My post above referred to the Desura version. The download version appears to work.

First impression: I'm waiting for something to happen most of the time. Is it going on like this? Am I missing something important?

Error Message (from Adobe Air) when trying to launch the game: "Application has an invalid application descriptor. Try re-installing or inform your manufacturer."
Re-installing didn't help. What does the manufacturer say?

I noticed I can get into the game somehow by opening the "Real Horror Stories.swf", which opens a browser window, but I don't think that's the way it's supposed to be played.

The version currently installed on my PC and running under Desura is 1.1.0 (according to the title screen). Now Desura offers me an update - to version 1.0.2, according to the change log (and without stating any details). To increase the confusion, the change log entry preceding that for 1.0.2 is labeled 1.0.3.
Could someone clarify please?

The new version is a lot better! It's downloadable, there is the LOG OFF button, and I can see the whole screen now, including the QUIT button. Thanks!
There is still something wrong when I play with the settings (at higher resolutions I can't see the whole screen anymore, and going back to smaller resolutions still doesn't let me see the whole screen). Moreover, 1024x768 is still not selectable on the launch window - but I can change to 1024x768 via the settings when I start at a 1440 resolution. Nevertheless, the game appears to be playable now, and I'll give it a try later.
My monitor is 22" or so, and the resolution is set to 1280x1024 most of the time. Tried other resolutions, too, but this one works best for me in most situations (given that the PC is 6 years old).

I wanted to let you know what my experiences with your game are so far, mainly because I think it's probably useful for you (and helps you create a better game for me :-)!).
There is one thing I'd really like to know: How can I exit the game without using the task manager? I can't imagine it's possible from the launch window (or is it?), but is there an exit button on the main menu window which is simply not visible on my monitor?

- Using the "settings" button in the main menu, I can actually switch between resolutions (but not between fullscreen and windowed, this doesn't work), but none of them seems to give me the full view. Some parts are missing, some parts of the screen stay black. This may have to do with my monitor format (4:3) and resolution, but I don't want to change my screen resolution whenever I play VoD and change it back afterwards.
- Moreover, I can't exit the game (from whatever window) except by using the task manager (Vista 32bit). In windowed mode, pressing the windows icons in the top left and right corners doesn't do anything.
With other words: The game is more or less unplayable for me right now. And before you ask: Yes, I have tried the "Verify files" option in Desura, and even re-downloaded the game. No change. By the way: Like someone else mentioned, it's not possible to download 0.5.1 directly (404). To be able to play a game without using Desura, is important for me, I very rarely buy games if I can't play them outside of Desura (or Steam), too. Please sort this issue out with Desura.

My PC is Vista 32bit, 4 GB RAM, ATI 3650, latest drivers. Don't think it's a graphics card problem. The game (as far as it's visible on my monitor) runs smoothly even on the highest resolution.

Have to split this in 2 parts as Desura doesn't accept more than 2000 characters (see the next reply for the rest).

Double-clicking VoD in Desura takes me to a launcher window, where I'm supposed to choose between fullscreen and windowed, to set a resolution and finally to launch the game. Alternatively, I can click a button labeled "auto detect and launch game". This is what happens when I do something in this window:
- When I choose "auto detect", I see a new window with options like "New Game", etc. in the background, but also an "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" error message. When I confirm "ok" (which I have to), I'm back to Desura.
- When I choose the smallest resolution and click "launch game", a message appears saying "please select a desired resolution on the left. ...".
- When I choose any other resolution, with or without checking the fullscreen box and click "launch game", I see the window where I can start a new game, etc. There is no "exit" button. Perhaps not all buttons are visible? The lowest one I can see is "Credits", and that's on the bottom of the screen (fullscreen and windowed).

Nice, thanks. I suggest to do it for the classic mode only. And I'd much rather have the option to give me just some more fuel, not unlimited (which is fine for practising, but breaks the game indeed). But unlimited is probably easier to implement.
And make sure that using unlimited means zero score :-)!

Alas - but it's your game.
A final attempt though :-): My point is that people are different, brains, fingers, reaction times, ..., caused by age, education, physical and mental conditions, training, etc. I'm sure there are people who despair of the difficulty of the game while others find it too easy even as it is today. Why not let them tune the game to suit their personal taste (and limitations) and possibilities? I deliberately suggested to let people give themselves a range of fuel between 1/10 and 10 times the current quantity (or between 50% and 200%, would be more realistic).
That said, you made a really nice game!

Thanks - but why not let the player decide how to play the game? Some people prefer a slower playing style, some are simply not as skilled at saving fuel as others. Would it be such a huge effort to add an option (could be in an editable config file, to keep things simple) to multiply the default amount of fuel by a factor, which could range from 0.1 to 10, say?

Is there a way to influence the amount of fuel (or an unlimited fuel mode, in the extreme)?

Update: I managed to clear the other dungeon I mentioned above meanwhile. After the 7.4 update it was reset and I went back in. This time I found a button on a wall I had apparently overlooked when I visited that dungeon earlier. I opened access to a new area which contained the missing lever.

Looks like I replied to the comment above this one, sorry. Meanwhile I've seen a few more dungeons, but not the odd need to experiment with levers again. Maybe I got somethiong wrong, maybe it was a bug, never mind. There was also another dungeon where I wasn't able to open a gate although I have found all levers and checked all walls for push buttons at least twice - very likely a bug.
That said, I'm enjoying the game very much, and increasingly so. Diverse monsters requiring diverse tactics to beat, it's not "one size fits all". Had several fights I barely survived. My most experienced team is level 9 meanwhile - is there a maximum level by the way?

Well, I wrote my comment after experiencing the odd behaviour I described - I don't think I dreamt the whole thing. You are right about the buttons who until now all have been positioned right at the doors they open.
That a lever opens and closes a door somewhere in the dungeon is ok, but I'm pretty sure (as an example) I've had to close one door before I could open another.
Maybe a developer can clarify the point.

Having played the game for some time now, I find it a great experience. With one exception: I don't like the levers and buttons you have to use to open doors - because I find them kind of pointless and a waste of time and energy. Essentially, you find out where in the dungeon these objects are, where the doors are, and then you start experimenting. Any on-off combination might open or close a door, so you have to try them out one by one, which can be quite cumbersome and tedious, and boring. To try a combination out means you walk to the levers and/or buttons, switch them on or off and then you walk to the doors to find out what the effect is. This is possibly funny in the forst couple of dungeons, but then it becomes a chore with no apparent purpose.
Am I wrong? Have I missed something?
If not I recommend to make levers and buttons meaningful, or to reduce the number (for example: one or two only, in remote corners of the dungeon and protected by strong guys), or to provide an option to switch them off completely.

Right at the start, I noticed a few differences between demo 6 and the older ones, among them fewer save slots and, worse, you can't choose large worlds anymore. Is this intended?

When you play VoD in Desura, it says "Version 0.1.0". This profile page of VoD in Desura offers version 0.1.1 for free download.
I hope this is not saying that you get a newer version than the purchased one for free?
Please clarify.

Thanks guys - it's what I did, too, but I thought I might have overlooked a more elegant method :-).
I don't mind closing the window in the "brutal" way. On the other hand, a quit button won't hurt (and is probably relatively easy to implement, I guess).

Same problem, affects the standalone version and the Desura version, Steam is ok. Looks like an issue with the installation files.

Thanks. It's your decision. Did you choose DX11 as a requirement deliberately, or did it "just happen"?
Regarding the second issue: I know that Norton tends to be a bit "over-protective" sometimes. But it's also true that many developers tend to ignore that the world is a lot bigger than their software and that their users' PCs do more than run their software. No offense intended.

Same problem. ATI 3650, latest drivers, not sure about DX11.
Another issue: Norton complains about the exe: "Suspicious behaviour". I know that Norton isn't ALWAYS reliable, but the message does mean that the exe is doing something that is unusual (whatever this means).

Ok, I can run the game now - both the 0.9.9.0 Desura version (deleted everything under that 2.0 folder and used the desktop shortcut) and the 1.0.0.0 downloaded version.
This leaves the question how I can update the game to the most recent version. Can anyone help?

Further to the message above: I found the forum post regarding this error. It says something about deleting a cache folder which is said to be "under ...\2.0". This is a bit unspecific as there are several folders "under 2.0". Delete them all?
Moreover: I have also installed the download version, which is 1.0.0.0. This one starts fine, without an error. So far so good. But it is apparently not the latest version of the game. Where do I get this from?
And how comes that I get an older version when I install the game via Desura?

I installed the game on Desura now. When I tried to run, it didn't run, but gave me this error message:

ERROR SUMMARY
+ Cannot activate a deployment with earlier version than the current minimum required version of the application.

By the way: The log said that the version installed was 0.9.9.0.
