No, normally you only look through an optical scope with one eye, so his left eye is closed as he looks through the ACOG.

If you played with it you would see babyeater is actually right :|

The scope you see in the picture has been changed to an ACOG for the Marines (Who are the BLUEFOR faction on Fallujah West, the map the SS is taken on). The US Army in-game uses the one there now.

If you are running Battlefield 2 on Windows Vista, make sure you are running it as administrator. To check, right click on the PR link, and make sure you run it in this fashion. If this doesn't work, try the following steps:

Click Start.
Go to Run.
Type regedit and hit OK button.
Click on plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click on plus sign next to SOFTWARE.
Double click on Electronic Arts folder.
Double click on EA Games folder.
Double click on Battlefield 2 folder.
Double click on ergc folder.
Data displayed will probably have x9392 only.
Right click on it and select Modify.
Type in x9392 and then your CD key.

Don't include hyphens when entering the CD key. It should look like: x9392*********** (with the * representing numbers)

7game, I don't want to be horrible here but Project Reality is developed through careful research and run through Military Advisors. Clearly, you obviously pull all your information from the most useless sources available, having no experience whatsoever with Military codes of conduct. Had you taken your time you would realise that throwing away empty magazines is extremely stupid and against practice of pretty much all conventional Army's around the world.

People like yourself, I'm sorry, just dig your own grave deeper and deeper by assuming you know better than anyone else. Please, go back and enjoy games designed for people like yourself. Goodbye :)

Yep, it will act as a cargo and transport helicopter (as the maximum amount of people able to get into a vehicle with the BF2 engine is 8) in the version it is released, along with the greatest map to ever be made for Project Reality, Sangin :P

Well then, Age of Chivalry shouldn't be up there, because thats BASED off something - medieval combat? WOOOOOH thats a new one. Eternal Silence is too close to Star Wars Battlefront for comfort. Pirates, Knights and Vikings...well thats just throwing three different player models with different weapons together in a deathmatch.

If someone made something about ninjas, is that original? Or are you just basing your decisions on the popularity of different contexts. Zombies and modern warfare are popular, maybe more so than Medieval ones, but does that instantly make them original masterpieces?

You might want to think about how immersiveness comes into play. Many of the DEV's are current serving British Armed forces or in the Marines or the Army. Thus, the maps they make take on a very personal meaning and they try to represent them as best they can. When you create something crazy, people find it hard to attach themselves to it and as I said before people want an experience that isn't just pretty flashing lights and effects.

I strongly suggest you find a copy of BF2 (note I said 'find' - don't support EA FOR THE LOVE OF GOD) and come have a look. You will probably find it rather refreshing if you have ever played a shooter game in the last few years.

People didn't vote for PR because it looks fancy (it's really hard to differentiate between it and Vanilla BF2 from screenshots) but they vote for it because of its gameplay. Saying that it is probably one of the most social oriented games to date and it's playerbase isn't a bunch of little kids that love playing soldier. In itself it also probably has one of the most mature playerbases out of any game to date. Anyway.....just don't right it off because of silly first impressions. You'll see the real creativity and intuition when you actually play it and see the shear amount of coding creativity the DEV's use to make things work.

Originality doesn't always work. Such a huge risk is involved in creating a mod purely out of creativity and not basing it on anything but your own imagination. It doesn't always pay off either which is unfortunate, and no mod developer wants to be un-appreciated.

Editors Choice this year really showcased some fantastic and original mods that really deserved it. Maybe in future MOTY's there will be more category's for originality and other creative areas. On the other hand, as a diehard PR fan I am very offended at being called 'childish' and a 'soldier wannabee'. The mod really doesn't deserve being called non-artistic and non-intuitive. Thats a horrible decription for a mod that fills a huge niche in the gaming community and does it for nothing more than giving people enjoyment.

I totally understand that when you first look at Project Reality all you see is "Guns, Tanks and Jets". Sure, PR features these assets but its certainly not what defines it. As I said in a comment as a reply to someone in the Mod of the Year page, it shines not because of its realistic gameplay (this can only take it so far) but because of its framework of gameplay that was built from scratch to get players working together. I know this is such a simple and old saying but, you really are judging a book by it's cover here.

I would also have to disagree with your view on lack of artistic quality in PR, as when you are basing something off real life, people tend to be incredibly critical on even the smallest mistake. A single vehicle or weapon might take many, many months and at times years of fine tuning and creation to make it believable. Same goes for any mod based off another idea or situation. People wanted to make a realistic experience for an ultra-arcade style shooter. It's a little difficult to make "reality" on an idea that doesn't exist...

Just a question...Have you ever played any of these mods? Maybe if you provided some constructive critisism instead of pasting on first impressions to every mod on that list, people might understand a bit better where your coming from. Of course you'll take this wrong but at the moment you just come off as a very, very angry individual that hates everything on the earth that doesn't adhere to your mindset.

Keep an open mind and join a squad, let them know your new. Plenty of people love helping people get into the game, but you have to be willing to take orders and learn. You might not like it right away, but it's one of those games that if you stick with it, you stick with it for a LONG time.

I encourage any Australian PR players to take a look at the BigD Gaming Community which serves as the home to Australian Project Reality.

Its not so much about "being a real soldier", Its about playing a game with teamwork unmatched by any other FPS to date - this is unorganized, passive teamwork I'm talking about, which is so rare in a game let alone a mod that PR stands out from every other mod that adds a brand new universe and gameplay style to the original engine.

You clearly havn't even played Project Reality - that, or you probably joined a server, attempted to run off by yourself and got shot up. People who stick with the game are players who enjoy working together to achieve a common goal on a large scale.

Any other game can do this if it wants to. Any game or mod can add teamwork mechanics into its structure to increase its appeal to players who enjoy this kind of play-style. Think of Project Reality as a high grade teamwork mod, built upon a modern, realistic Military theme. The realistic theme simply adds to the immersion - its not that we all suddenly feel like real soldiers although the game forces you to think like one on a small scale, which makes it such a refreshing change from the average FPS coming out these days.

The sooner you drop the "FPS gamers are all retards" mentality and find the ones that focus on things other than arcade style gameplay then the sooner you'll appreciate them.

Also, in the absence of persistent score tracking and rankings like on many other games, PR becomes a game where you play for the sake of playing - not for the sake of getting the highest rank possible. Everyone has a role, and everyone contributes to the team and for a game that lacks "artistic vision" it is one of the only games that gives a new experience everytime you play it.

That's pretty laughable, defence plays a huge role, the deviation is near perfect. You have to wait to get a perfectly accurate shot, and you can't stand in the middle of the road like you could in 0.8 and dodge bullets.

Oh well. If you perfer guns that can't hit a semi-trailer from 100m away then very well. I remind you that the "old" PR had highly accurate weapons, obviously you havn't been around very long.

The amount of people who seemingly despise PR (probably because it won)fail to understand it is still a game alot of people thoroughly enjoy, and for those complaining about the long spawn times and other 'annoying' features they are all there for a reason. Maybe, you just don't enjoy playing it and that is perfectly fine. But coming here like a sour grape raving on about how much it sucks is a way of showing how truly childish and immature you must be.

For a mod that recieves NO. I repeat NO support from EA in its many years of development, it still rises up as an extremely addictive game filled with the highest quality of content and innovation done on an engine that seemingly hardcodes every byte of data.

For those saying Zombie Panic Source should have won first place, very well, if you love it and so many others do as well then they and all of the other mods deserve Mod of the Year in a sense. But don't say it deserves it because they put so much time into it and none of the other mods did. In case you don't follow PR, it also, like any other mod requires ALOT of time to make something that has to adress thousands and thousands of balancing issues, content, sounds, maps, weaponry and huge code changes allowing it to do what other mods on BF2 havn't been able to suceed with. On top of that, it sets itself aside from Vanilla in nearly every way imaginable.

Congratulations on all the other mods that got the top 10, and thankyou for all the hardwork put in over the years.

Project Reality has released 3 huge updates since the last Mod of the Year, which saw PR 0.7 take second place. Since then PR has evolved a HEAP and so the shear amount of content and gameplay changes (revolutionary changes in PR) gives it the right to be eligible for MOTY 2008.

I agree with the things said about DBD, but theres nothing that can be done about it now. Not everything in the world is sugarcoated.
