Thank you for the input, but i am actually the original author of the article.
Thanks =) It is coming along =D
We absolutely would love to hear from you. Testing is always an important aspect. Shoot us an email at admin@gneu.org, include some information about yourself, your background and we will get back to you as soon as time permits =D
It did always bug me that while the Federation always updated their ships the klingons were running around in the same gross lookin things from kirks day. Give or take a couple wires and tight pants.
Bravo!
Make sure you stay tuned. This game is an amalgamation of the POCs I've been working on over the last few years. Hopefully things will come together well enough.
That is the goal, yes. I've already got it animated and it is able to receive key inputs. There is a recent blog post where i share a bit more information, but suffice to say that i am working on getting mouse input to work. If it doesn't the only option i get is to navigate it with keys, which may turn into the numpad for brevity.
Heh, thanks, I think. The game is still evolving so i hope that you follow it well into the future. Thank you for the interest.
Thank you for the interest, i am currently looking for a group of ~ 5 testers that are reliable and willing to give me input on the evolution of the game. If you, or anyone else, are interested please shoot me an email at bob@gneu.org or on here with a PM.
Good Hunting!
Thank you, that will likely be done. The engine has a ton of really interesting tools to play with.
=) I may reboot this, but the other developers are all AWOL. It will be slow moving and ill need some testers to be able to get anything on the drawing board done.
If you are interested please feel free to shoot me an email.
So far so good. Going to be moving to UDK unless otherwise stated.
Fully distributable.
Best wishes.
Ahem.
Assuming I don't die between now and then, P:W will be resuming development the first week of October.
Our website will resume updates soon there after. =)
No, the cover system is something that grew gradually. If you cant figure out how to get it out of the code you are going to run into major problems when you have to update it because of errors.
It is a mathematics lesson, in all reality, and certainly not as difficult to write as you may believe.
For those of you who are still alive, i think that my skills at orchestrating may be able to piece together the time to redo much of this mod and add a few other tid bits. The effort is entirely theoretical atm,
but i think it's doable.
=) Things are continuing to progress.
Thank you =D
How can i help you with this? We are currently working on pulling together the networking and it should increase the usefulness of the game.
The class name at the beginning of the code blocks is what tells you where it goes. Your commentary is not really very difficult. If you need assistance with CPP you can easily get a tutorial for that.
You can easily do a search through the source code and see where that function is being called to see how spawning is handled. I havent touched Source in nearly 3 years now so i wont be much help or knowledgeable of the current code base.
With luck and some effort we'll have the keys customizable, so you can all stop worrying about your middle mouse button. The camera has changed a bit as well, but not something you should notice too heavily, mainly z slicing.
We are in the middle of a full rewrite and its going pretty well getting back into the code with Nandeep. You should all be looking for the game to become more stable and networked properly.
Hence our lack of release from the previous month.
I think that a full code rewrite does qualify as "still rolling."
=)
It's definitely good to see your smiling face around.
Thank you for the input. For the record, though, we are not trying to become a GOW clone. Our game play is much slower and less about shooting around corners and diving between blocks than it is about team work and controlling territory.
If you are interested in GOW you have a game to play already called Gears of War, and its got a sequel i do believe.
Thanks for the idea, I don't know that we need them to be 100% black though. Our game is not based in horror and it is important to be able to see what is going on in the tunnels. Besides, in UT3 the weapons glow when you drop them, so even there the 100% darkness is wasted. It would be better to put dynamic lights passing through the hallways or something.
Thanks for the coverage. Your comments are certainly spot on. Our next release actually handles a couple of them, but the bots are still going to be garbage.
It's a shame you hadn't let us know. We are releasing in the next couple days and it would certainly be better to discuss on your podcast.

My credentials include being fluent in 7 languages and an understanding of about 9 others. This list is always expanding and while I try to keep up on the latest and greatest contributions to the projects I take part in time is certainly not a kind bed fellow of a student. I have been labeled vain, egotistical and at the same time compassionate and helpful, with more occurrence of the later. I am an able bodied writer with a very strong ability to direct my words at many differing audiences. I am comfortable with discussions of controversial topics and often find myself laughing at people for idiotic reasons. My Sense of humor is compatible with most everyone, assuming they have one as well, highlighted by the comics I have selected on the side of my site.
