I am developing our means of doing melee damage and to get that I am putting in a laser chainsaw. Yes sounds awesome. I have the animation done in Spriter, and the items in inventory and drop-able. Here are some images for all of it so far...

The idea here is that we can start doing damage to trees with the saw and begin chopping them down more realistically with damage not by hitting a key. This also opens up walking up to a buffalpug and doing the same thing, just with more blood. :) What are you more excited about? The fact you can kill stuff with a laser chainsaw, or the better model for chopping down trees? I know which one I think is better.

I have it so the saw is equip-able now and it changes the visuals

Up next is the attack animation triggering properly and testing to see if any of this breaks anything. I really hope to be using this saw sometime things week to chop down some trees and defend myself at close range. Although I am just concentrating on the visuals and interface to get it to show up like you are carrying it. The next step after this is to get the saw to detect what is in front of the character and start dealing damage to it. This is great fun.
