If you have ever wanted to mod Trine or develop your own epic platform adventure you can now do just that.

Whilst there is little supporting documentation at the moment, the Frozenbyte guys have given the full in house tools they used to make the games, here's what they say.

Frozenbyte wrote:The reason we’ve held off releasing the editor to the public before has been quite simple. It’s pretty difficult to use if you don’t know what you’re doing, and there’s *very* little documentation or tooltips.

The Frozenbyte Editor is a very diverse tool. This is what we use to make games like Trine and Trine 2, and it’s based entirely on our own technology. You can now edit existing maps, make new maps and do all kinds of things with it. If this sounds like fun, go a head and play with the features and experiment!

So did we make an easy-to-use version for everyone to enjoy? The answer to that is…not really :) Instead we’ve opened a wiki page and provided some very basic instructions on how to use our editor. It’s an open wiki after you’ve registered, so anyone can edit and post information, and we hope that people will start to share their knowledge with everyone. We’ll also be updating the wiki ourselves and tracking that all the instructions are correct and up-to-date.

So what are you waiting for follow these instructions and jump in.

Working on a Trine or Trine 2 mod / total conversion or addon, feel free to submit them to the listing & promote your hard work to the world.

Well, i guess that releasing Drm-free versions for all platforms (at least) in Humble Bundle and Store resolved most of questions. It taken a lot of time, sure, but they made it after all. Not much do. Now we need to get win version here and say "thank you".

There is no Windows version ?
FrozenBytes finally love DRM, that's why they screwed us up.

Steam won. They accepted the very last version of Trine 2, Desura are not the same, they are like us. You willl never see Games 4 Windows games here with sick DRM. If FrozenBytes refuses to offer to players the free DRM, so Desura won't go foward with them and let the very last DRM-Free version. (That's all I think about the developers but... maybe I am wrong)

its especially pitiful that Trine 2 was (at least in some amount) funded by Humble Bundle sale. So, they released their games DRM-free on humble Bundle, taken money and made...Steam-locked Trine 2. Great.
They also said initially that Drm-free version will be released on fall of 2012, but still no signs about it. Probably Steam gives them enough profit to forget about players.

Interesting... the Windows version is also unavailable for purchase using their Humble Store widget on their website. It does, in fact, appear that the only way to buy Trine 2 for Windows is directly on Steam.

@ubuntuaddicted Yes we do, the most convenient way would be to write an e-mail to press (at) T.co :)

Dec 18 2014, 3:36am

@bortoletto79 The EU version should appear to the PlayStation Store today when it updates, stay patient. :)

Dec 17 2014, 5:34am

@ManuelStanislao Trine EE also has so many improvements and added features that we hope this'll justify the lack of Cross-Buy somewhat. :)

Dec 17 2014, 3:19am

@ManuelStanislao Sadly no, because of different publishers – Trine EE is self-published, whereas on PS3 we had to use separate publishers.

Dec 17 2014, 3:19am

@gizmo_76 Unfortunately Trine Enchanted Edition will not support Remote Play at least for now. Sorry about this.

Dec 17 2014, 3:18am

@FarronFox Unfortunately we have not been able to support this, so in local co-op only the host will get trophies.
