The Onryō is a bloody hack-n-slash, side scroller along with an intense multiplayer deathmatch. The game is set in a fictional region of feudal Japan. A Japanese peasant runs away with a girl who was sworn to marry the ruling Shogun and is hunted by assassins. With a single stab on the sword, both are impaled and left for dead. While peasant dies from his wounds the girl is nursed back to health by a wandering Ronin. The Ronin teaches her how to avenge her lover, and she vows to give everyone involved a "horrific death".
