The Kingsport Cases is a horror game all about, well, horror. It’s about being afraid to play, see what happens in play, and stare frightened into the dark corners of your home after play. The game will weave constantly changing, terrifying storylines based on player interaction, exploration, and survival based gameplay in a procedurally generated, all new one of a kind universe each playthrough. It’s the type of fear you can never get used to.

The Kingsport Cases is a fully procedurally generated survival horror game set in late 19th century Lovecraftian lore. This week, our technical lead and 3D artist talks about generating procedural maps and creating a visual style for NPCs.

"Having a level is nice, but it will only get us so far. Sure, the player can wander through a Victorian mansion, but that's not nearly as interesting as a proper game. The difference is the critical objects scattered carefully through the level."
