Hello again Thanatophobians!

Alleyway

It's been a while since I last did an update and it has been pretty hectic here at Death Knell Games. Team mates coming and going, development of the story and most excitingly of all, the alleyway scene went into a proper iteration of modelling. The procedural buildings seen in our original screen shots were simply just pre-alpha place holders and now they are being generated with more features and randomised weathering for more variation up close.

Other additions to the alleyway map include a much more advanced sky material with blended clouds, real-time randomised lightning and a dynamic, sphere mask moon (massive thanks to Julio Juarez for the fantastic dynamic sky information and tuts, more of which can be found, along with some of his incredible work on Mass Effect 3, on his Facebook.com group).

I've been working hard on the scene and it's starting to look quite good for a DX9 rendered scene, and it is a welcome addition to the game. I'll be posting up some screenshots with this news update, and included bellow is a first copy of my show reel which, as a vast majority, is taken from Thanatophobia. Here you can see some info on materials, methods I used, and it is a good way to "sneak-peek" some of Thanatophobia to you guys!

Don't forget to view on 1080p for the best quality video.

In other news, I'm still looking for talented programmers that would be able to do a critique on our codebase. There is still a lot to do, including a general polishing and expansion of that we already have. Currently a lot of the code and methods we are using is completely undocumented anywhere on the internet and in order for us to continue smoothly, we need someone with that extra flare that can take over the work previously designed and implemented by Dan, who is sadly having to drop out due to other commitments. If this interests you, and you have the time and motivation to be part of a hardworking and dedicated team, please get in contact with me (John) directly at johnpearce135@aol.com with the subject 'Thanatophobia Programmer' including some examples of your work and preferably an online portfolio. I would prefer any applicants to be over the age of 25, but this is open to discussion.

I hope you all enjoy the new screenshots and show reel, and please don't forget to take a few seconds to 'like' the Thanatophobia Facebook.com group to show your support and help keep us going strong!

Best wishes,
-John
