At this stage in development, Survival: Barren Roads has quite a bit of content. I wanted to demonstrate one of the core features of survival games: multiplayer. Currently, there is no other survival game on iOS that features multiplayer. And as far as I am aware there is no other one in development.
The following 1:30 minute video shows 3 iOS devices connected via LAN. In the video, I am demonstrating basic walking around, drawing weapons and firing upon another player. I am testing this by myself. It all works well as you can see, but it still needs polish.
While we will have zombies as a plentiful enemy, we feel that the best antagonist in a permadeath survival game are other players themselves. The uncertainty of a stranger or the comfort of a friend really brings out a sense of fear or security.
I wanted to show this multiplayer aspect in my first news post. Multiplayer is what makes Dayz so entertaining. And in the following posts we are going talk more about Barren Roads and demonstrate some key features and other aspects of survival.
