StarLust Alpha Install Instructions

This is a standalone game client. All you need to do to install is download the .zip folder anywhere you like and unzip. Once unzipped you can launch the StarLust.exe and enjoy!

Play Instructions

StarLust is still very early in development so there are a lot of bugs and unfinished content! Here's a quick guide on how to play and what's available to use.

The main menu has access to options, skirmish and the ship designer

Options will allow you to set resolution, player name, sensitivities and hotkeys.

The ship designer is available to build and we highly encourage you to build your own ships. There is a decent amount of strategy to picking your ships to bring into combat and building your own ships is easy and fun!

Skirmish is where the action is. You can either host or join a game from this menu.

• To join a game simply hit join and a list a people hosting lobbies will show up.
• If you know the IP of someone hosting a match you can direct connect to them (useful if you want a private match).

To host a game simply hit host and enter a name for your lobby. This will be broadcast to other players looking to join unless you select the private option. If private is selected players can still connect by direct connecting but you're lobby will not be visible.

• There are some issues hosting/connecting to lobbies. To help prevent this we highly recommend you forward the ports we use on your router. We use ports 5130 and 5127 both tcp and udp. If you're having connection issues this is the first thing to try.

There are many options to hosting a match and you can control several parameters.

• The map seed is the random seed used to generate the map. Leave it blank for a random map or enter a word or numbers to manually enter a seed.
• There are controls for the amount of planets, moons and the amount of resources available to the players.

Once all players are ready you'll be able to select you're deployment. Here you'll select a starbase model you want and what ships you want to bring into battle. You need at least 15 but you can bring 20 ship types into battle total so choose carefully. A default deployment is included for those who don't want to build their own ships.

That should be the basics to starting matches and playing the game. Once in a match its a fairly standard RTS. Destroy your enemies and expand your control until you are victorious! Enjoy!
