I've been playing and enjoying the new version for a few days now, and I have just realized that I have somehow acquired control of some enemy troops. Even more strangely, these troops were stationed at my enclave when I found them! I hadn't recruited anyone new that turn, so I was surprised to find anything other than peasants there (btw, I LOVE not having to worry about random sieges from halfway across the map any more!). I was even more surprised when I noticed that the troops were owls: one Corruptor, two Halberdiers, one Earth Mage, and one or two other troop whose names I cannot recall. The units seem to function normally, moving where they are ordered to and even engaging their fellow owls in combat, though the warband is displayed on the world map as being turtles since they are under my control. While it is possible they had been hanging out in my capital for a few turns, I cannot verify this because I do not have any other recent saves of this game (I know, I should really make backup saves!). I would like to attach a copy of the savefile for you, but I could not locate any specific file for saves, could you tell me where they might be?

Hey :) glad to hear you're having so much fun, and yeah I totally agree the new AI and enemy army mechanics are a huge step forwards.

But apparently something must have slipped through the cracks while I was building the system eh? This sounds like the game is erroneously changing the armies' faction tag after a battle (when the army should have been destroyed and removed from the system) or maybe it's the AI trying to spawn fresh units in an army that the player has disbanded/lost but the system has failed to clean and remove.

I'll look over the code very carefully, (my gut is telling me this is just me forgetting to put a variable in an obvious place), but if you'd like to send me the save file with the traitorous army they should be in the install directory, there should be a folder there called 'Siege of Turtle Enclave_Data', inside that folder is all the save files alongside some of the games data files, the save files are called (creatively enough) SaveSlot1, SaveSlot2, etc... The file numbers correspond with the slot numbers in the in-game interface.

Thanks a lot for your help and I hope to resolve the issue in the next patch! (But for now pretend it's like the turtles used white magic to un-curse enemy units who have now joined the cause... ;) )

Okay, I'm looking in the Data file, but I see no SaveSlot files. There are "level" files numbered 0-10, ""sharedassets" files numbered 0-11, a "mainData" file, a "PlayerConnectionConfig" file, and a "ScreenSelector" file. There are also three folders, "Managed," "Mono," and "Resources," but the saves did not appear to be in those either. Am I missing something obvious here?

No, that sounds exactly like the folder they should be in, alongside all the files you listed. Are you playing the game through Desura's client or do you have the standalone? Because when I made some save games while playing through Desura I couldn't find any save files either, (when I found the game's install folder inside the 'Common' folder in Desura's directory)...

Another mystery, though I suspect this save file one may be beyond my skill to solve for now anyway.

But I thank you for your effort, really, thanks :) , chances are I'll figure out the army bug when I go over the code.

I have neither the standalone nor the Desura copy, I bought the game through Gamgersgate.

While I'm writing, 2 minor issues: I have been noticing problems with the 2nd abilities of certain units. The Mauler, when I click on his 2nd ability (Knockback I think), his firsta ability, Hide, activates instead. The Heavy Axethrower's 2nd ability simply does not respond to clicking at all, and I think there was one other but I forgot to write it down. Both of these units (the 2 other than the Mauler) second abilities state that they can target either the frontline OR support, so possibly there is something going wrong with figuring out which one to use it on?

Keep up the good work, still having great fun!

Cool, that makes me even more eager to go over the ability system, which is due for a tune up. Some (but very few) of the spells don't even do anything, with the reforms made during the Beta update some of the features are still wired into systems that no longer exist and now they don't function properly. But all unit abilities will get careful scrutiny in future patches.

Thanks again for the help and encouragement!

More owl-related weirdness: Those owls under my control lost a few battles and some were killed but when I attempted to merge them with a turtle of mine, to fight some enemy owls in the square, suddenly the owls defected back to the enemy team, and took their new turtle buddy with them! Now I have an empty warband facing off against two enemy warbands in that square.

That's very odd, but the extra details help me to nail down the causes for the problem. This week I'm diving into revamping the magic system but before I start on that I'll try and sort this mess out, so it should hopefully be settled in the next patch.

Thanks again for your help, you're awesome!
