Playing with a "Manual Aim" version of cannon control. Mouse aim is sort of like "Auto Aim" so player's will be able to swap when they want. Both have benefits.
Will there be damage to your ship if you hit a rock too hard etc.?
There will eventually be some obstacles like that, yeah. If you were to ram them you would be damaging your ship. For example you might see a cave opening but the area is blocked off by jagged rocks. With a powerful enough weapon you might be able to destroy them, or maybe you have diving gear and you could find another way in.
