A lot of work has been going into this over the past year, building a blitting engine from scratch which can handle hundreds of blitter objects, adding game play and drawing hundreds of little sprites.
Things are moving in the right direction i.e. forward which is good. Lately some game tools have been added to help develop the island levels more easily so that things don't have to be hand entered. In this process some performance improvements have also been made, most noticeable in the memory footprint. This reduction means players on older machines will be able to enjoy Reprisal!
Another recent addition is the back story and plot(!) Although in first draft it gives a good starting point. And here it is ...
