I have this on one of my worlds too. I made the map a few days before the Halloween update and didn't explore much, then after the update I started to explore the new area and there is an edge like this all the way around my map where the original terrain meets the terrain generated after the update.
That can't be natural, would have been cool thou :P
its a fail in the chunk loading that causes stuff like this
