Welcome to your new job:

You're tasked with keeping the production of mysterious toys going at any cost. Your many tasks include keeping the boiler at a good pressure, making sure the steam engine drives the machinery at the right pace and keeping the machinery itself in working order. All whilst your boss constantly keeps an eye on you.
Displease your boss in any way and this will be the last day you did anything, ever.

Can you deal with the stress of working for this monster?

Early Access:

This game is currently in Early Access, though it is mostly finished and fairly bug-free. I have already gotten feedback from some friends that helped test this, but I always like to take some extra time polishing things and get more feedback from more people before going full release.

Aside from that the funds for the ItchIO Early Access release will go towards getting the game published on Steam and to allow me to continue to work on games full-time. I do have further plans for Keep It Running
, such as a second game mode in which you need to deliver the packages you made with a steam lorry and possibly a co-op version of the game for Steam.

Play time is currently 1 to 2 hours, excluding the Custom Day which allows for endless replay.

System Requirements:

Minimum:
- i3 dual or quad core
- At least a GTX750ti or equivalent, 2GB of VRAM
- At least 4GB of RAM
- Windows 10, 11 or Linux

The game runs well on the Steam Deck too and has support for joystick/gamepad controls.

Get the full game now: Evildraggie.itch.io

It is time! KiR has reached version 1.0 and... has had some minor updates since too, making it now at version 1.0.2.
The game's finished and should be bug-free, but I'll very likely release some small patches here and there in the coming month when more people play the game and give feedback :)

Clockwork Demon wishes you well

Here are all the fixes, changes and additions:

  • Added various events to days 1 to 3 to make things more interesting and creepy,
  • Boss now reacts to finishing your first box on day 2,
  • Boss makes idle sounds at beginning of day now instead of waiting,
  • Machines do not randomly break in tutorial (day 1) anymore, instead you are paid a visit and it breaks a machine,
  • Machines breaking delay is much longer on day 6 now so players can acclimate to the new situation and monster better,
  • Lowered Competitor spawn on day 6,
  • Raised toy part spawn rate on day 4 so you don't have to play absolutely perfectly to finish the last box on time,
  • Lowered toy part spawn rate on day 5 to make it more tense,
  • Adjusted Boss anger music effects volumes and how they swell when he gets angry,
  • Added proper death animation for when the boiler explodes,
  • Fixed boss office glass having a grey color when the lights are off,
  • Fixed some wrong values in the anger effects and polished the light flicker animations,
  • Fixed boss kill animation not playing,
  • Fixed parts counter never reaching zero,
  • Fixed Clockwork Demon position being slightly wrong, causing clipping,
  • Increased lantern scan rate so it feels more responsive,
  • Added new slider to Custom Day for the amount of toy parts that are spawned (61 to 91 toys total) for new challenges,
  • If Clockwork Demons are set active in Custom Day the lantern will now spawn regardless (but the lights will still be on if the lights broken option is not selected),
  • Replaced "arm" with "competitor" in texts,
  • Did some further balancing of days 4 and 5 for 1.0.1,
  • Made Doll wake up timer longer, to give players a chance of putting them in boxes before they run amok,
  • Updated some of the kill animations,
  • Minor tweaks and adjustments.

I'm looking forward to seeing your streams and videos, make sure to share them! :)

And don't make a mess of things like I did, the Boss hates it:

A complete disaster!

The Future:

For the future Steam release I plan to add the "Deliveries" update which includes a second game mode in which you have to drive a steam lorry and deliver the packages you've made in the factory.
I gotta make a map for this and of course the vehicle itself. The controls will be very hands-on as you are familiar with in the game so far i.e. you have to manually control everything with the mouse. Steering, speed regulation and of course shoveling coal are all gonna be part of your job. Oh and... following the direction the Boss gives you as he sits next to you ready to murder you should you mess up!

No pressure, of course... ;)

Of course there's also still that idea for the co-op version called "Keep It Running Together". I am currently not sure if this will become reality yet, but I have started sketching out some ideas and started collecting photos of old factories and steam engines for reference. I want to factory to be rather big and nicely detailed for Together.

Sketch of the factory

That's all for now, happy working!
