Gnoblins is a kind of roguelike(-like) game in 3d still in development. The game is basicly a RPG playing in a dungeon world with the addition of some lightweight RTS elements. The RTS elements results from a small community of minions, called gnoblins, which you can aquire to support your adventures. Building up your own part of a dungeon with the help of your gnoblins is one of the major features of the game. Besides dungeon building, randomly generated levels, permadeath, and crafting are further features. The development spirit of Gnoblins is 'roguelike' too. Therefore we will provide an early access to game and hope to build up a game community to help us refining the game.

We have made a 12 minute in-game footage of the current alpha version of gnoblins and have a call to support us on Steam Greenlight. Further on we talk a little bit about the improvements we made in gnoblins in the last weeks.

The development of gnoblins is making good progress in the last few weeks. I have created a 12 minute gameplay footage of the alpha version 0.0.12 to let the community have a sneak peek into its current state.

As little side note: Please support us on Steam Greenlight. When you like it and want to see Gnoblins on steam, go over here and give us your vote.

Here are some of the changes of the last several weeks.

For one we have decided to make a shift from the player character to the gnoblins. Instead of having a class or skill system for the player character, we made the importance of the gnoblins more prominent. The gnoblins have a class system now, which is based on specialization. A new gnoblin will always join your purpose as worker, but the player can specialize each gnoblin into one of the major classes later, which are crafter, warrior or scholar. Later on your gnoblins will be able to specialize further into mages, alchemists, beastmasters, scouts, engineers, and smiths. Each class will have unique tasks and abilities.

An other important change is the new mood system. Each gnoblin have a mood which effects his performance and his will to specialize. The mood of the gnoblins is directly connected to the work load and the dungeon comfort level. You need to make your dungeon more attractive and comfortable to make your gnoblins happy.

On the player side we have improved the traveling system. The dungeons are quite large and you would need some time to travel through them, therefore we have implemented a sprint mode for short distances and have added stones of teleportation in the dungeons for fast traveling over larger distances.

Dungeons are not meant to be a "happy" place, if the gnoblins don't do as they are told they should be executed as an example to the others. Working with the concept that things should be more attractive and comfortable it should be called "Fairies".

An attractive and comfortable place for a gnoblin is not the same as for a human. Gnoblins are a mix of goblins and gnomes, unlikely that you will see a gnoblin hopping through the dungeon wearing some tights singing old elven songs... but, the more I think about it.. ;-)
