Help Flack vanquish the evil enemies that overrun Rolotopia as we speak. Beware brave adventurer, The Hand is always watching! Flack includes: 4 environmentally unique chapters, a built-in Level Maker Tool with shareable map files and an option to play randomly generated levels.
This is just a sample test of the current mechanics being used for the game. You must have Java installed to play this version.
A truly interesting game. I think you got a good idea here, mate, and you should continue to develope it into a complete game.
Though I did find it a bit hard to move around, it was so easy just to go flying away from the platforms...
PS. Maybe you've already thought about this, but anyway.
I suppose you are using a JFrame, if so maybe you should add "setResizable
(false)" somewhere... Resizing the screen do not look to good...
DS.
As far as controls go, I've considered two options: 1) quick acceleration but short distance, and 2) slow acceleration, but long distance. Which one would you prefer? The current system is a mix between these decisions.
Quick acceleration but short distance.
This was actually very important input. I reduced the maximum acceleration peak from 12.0 to 8.0 and this approximately reduced the range of distance from 8 blocks to 3 blocks. At first, this seemed ok, but it felt like it was missing something. I increased the hang time of the jump accelerator, and this increased the jump distance to 4-5 blocks. I think I've found the perfect ratio my friend. Thanks again.
Looks interesting. The autojump is a very welcome feature, since the manual jump feels hard to control (or maybe I'm just not used to it). I'm curious to see what other features there will be.
P.S. The sound doesn't work for me, but I don't know whether you've already added it to your code.
I like it, good concept and the physics are really good. Graphics are well designed, maybe in the future add the option to customise your character, not make your own, just choose from different colours etc. Level editor looks good, but maybe have an 'endless' mode aswell, where the map is randomly generated as you move off screen, when you fall off the game is over. A feature like this could add to the longevity of the game.
