Excalibur breaks the mould of traditional space simulation games by putting the player firmly in the boots of an experienced Starfleet captain. From the outset you will be able to control your character and command your ship as if you were standing on the bridge yourself. From taking direct control of the helm, to transferring command of any ship in your task force, or even calling your senior staff to the briefing room to discuss mission tactics; Excalibur is the most immersive Star Trek experience ever. Set six months after the events in Star Trek: Nemesis, Excalibur's story mode deals with the turbulent political scene caused by a decade of war and turmoil. From the second Borg incursion in First Contact, to the fall of the Dominion and the collapse of the Romulan political system; these events resulted in huge loss of life and changed the Alpha Quadrant forever.
QBUI is nearly complete! I thought I would post another quick screenshot for those of you checking our Excalibur's page :)
Once I get my hands on Excalibur I'm not going to leave my computer for months! XD
You guys are making excellent progress.
The UI is awesome, reminiscent of BC's but so much more LCARS :D
Is it just me or are the stars on that logo a bit off? Sol6.de
I thought people would be more upset that it's the UFP logo on a Cardassian ship! :P
Never whinge about place-holder art, that logo looks like it was created from scratch though, so I mentioned it ;)
Love it. Looks like lots of fun.
will differant factions have their own UI or will they just use the LCARS. Not that it matters because this one is awesome
That is something I would like to see. For each faction they have a similar, but unique UI to the given faction.
Yeah, but let's focus on getting one UI working for now eh?
Once you get the first UI working then you can always build off of it or change it for other factions, you can change the colors, etc.
It is all CSS that is based on several style files, so if you like, you can open them up and edit away to your heart's content! :)
The other thing to note is that this is just the basic mode. The advanced mode is *much* cooler (you can visit the solar systems, change the textures around, and even place items in ships/asteroids etc), but it takes a bit more time to set up a game.
I got my gaming computer ready. Lets do this!
Beautiful. Very LCARS, feels like the UI belongs in the Star Trek universe.
I know I mention LCARS in every single comment I make on UI, and that is because I am a judgemental git. No, really, that's why. But it's also because making a smooth, intuitive and immersive UI is going to be important.
