Critical Point: Incursion is a standalone game created with Epic Games' Unreal Development Kit. Incursion is a semi-realistic, arcade-like first-person shooter combining tactical gameplay with arcade-style speed.Utilising a wide variety of modern weaponry and set in fantastically rendered locations, the Mercenaries and Special Forces meet at a critical point! In a rush-based mode as seen in first-person shooters such as CoD4, Battlefield 3, Counter Strike and TO:AoT, teams are given level-specific objectives in round-based scenarios! CP:I is aimed at a large player base, offering a huge platform for competitive clan and league play, allowing individuals to shine and capture their glory regardless of how many hours they have played. It accentuates skill vs luck, aiming vs spraying, etc. We differ from the competition by having no unlockables, no RPG's, claymores, tanks, jets or other vehicles. Just PURE infantry combat action!!

World premiere gameplay trailer

You can help us get on STEAM by voting on GREENLIGHT as we ramp up the PR/ marketing campaign with our eyes set on a beta next year (2013). Hit "like" or "rate" in the bottom hand corner (usually a thumbs up) and also share us on your facebook and social sites.

A big thanks go to the whole of the team (especially to JTMarrin and Matt Lefevere), plus our past members whom have made this dream come true.

We have slogged our butts off for 4 years, going from UT2k4, to UT3 and 3 years ago porting to the UDK engine. It has been a wonderful eye opening experience, meeting artists and colleagues from all over the world and to finally be able to bring our hard work together into this packed trailer is mind blowing.

We hope you enjoyed the trailer, bearing in mind this is ingame footage from an early Alpha build; not to forget we are an indie team working on a 100% ZERO budget.

&

Your Critical Point Team

Definitely unpolished, but a great start. Honestly, I hope you guys can get some bit of a budget so you can add more characters and fix the animations. Also, I would recommend more environmental VFX and more glowy explosions. Hope this was helpful!

Hi Fragfest

thanks for the comments
yes its still pre-alpha and a long way to go, your crititism is always welcomed. Character animations are already undergo, we have ripped out the old Animtree and started again, fixing alot of transitional blending issues, jumping, running and walking animations on our raw MOCAP data. There are already significant improvements.

Since the video we have already added a female merc ingame, she is also rigged and fully animated. We have a Merc male dude coming up next :)

so much going on.. !

Its nice to finally see a gameplay video after so long, yet I am left somewhat puzzled. The gameplay appears to be very primitive, an aspect that should have been at the forefront of everything else. It doesn't reflect 4 years of development time, and makes me wonder what will be done in the coming year or years. The player movement and weapon mechanics all seem very clunky, there was nothing in there that I thought was new or innovative or looked fun. The most polished things I saw was the user interface/menu's.

thats 3 years to be precise, since the move from ut3 to UDK meant we lost all our assets and had to start again.
So what your seeing with our game is all 100% custom assets, from the blades of grass, the muzzle effects, grenades to the weapons, characters and environment. 6 completed maps, 4 completed and animation characters.. plus all the code and infrastucture done behind it.

Take that into account and remember we all have day jobs in our private lifes and have about 5-15 hours a week to invest in this project, I think 3 years is a good estimation with a completely 0 budget.

Its pre-alpha, so a lot of it is still wip and in need for fine tuning, tweaking and polishing. Especially the character animations, sounds and more UI menus.

Dont expect to see anything innovative and ground breaking, new.. yes. We will be bringing further videos in the near future with development information and showing areas in fine detail. I hope then, you have a better idea if this is something for you or not.

crits always welcome!

Hello,

I am just curious about your comment,
"since the move from ut3 to UDK meant we lost all our assets and had to start again."

I am currently working on a game in UDK, and their has been absolutely no issues with directly moving assets from UT3 to UDK. Additionally, What would be the issue with simply reimporting them into UDK? UDK and UT3 are the same exact engine(Unreal Engine).

I am just curious if you ran into issues importing them, or if the assets were just of poor quality and had to be redone. I am confused since you are saying the move caused you to lose everything which is not possible.

hi, our work used 99% of the ut3 assets.

back then the license agreement stated you could only use the assets in the UDK only. its been less restricted over the recent years but if your using ut3 assets in your udk game, i believe you still need written permission from epic to use them should you plan on selling your game.

ahhh ok that makes sense. When you said "our assets" I thought you meant assets you created, not Epics.

Anyways,
Good Luck!

(Btw, it is expected that commercial games use "custom assets", so its not necessary to mention it. It would be like an artist saying "I Custom placed Every Brushstroke" when he is trying to sell a painting he made.)

Good variety of maps, some interesting game modes, lots of guns, bullet time (in multiplayer?). Awesome!

What I didn't see was the MoCap animation. Players just seemed to turn into horizontal position when shot. You could also show the images a little bit longer in the next trailer, since some of the flashing at start and end left too little time to see enough.

Good luck for the release on Steam.
